O.K. after hearing all about the Tonga Toast I have decided that I must try it. I am thinking that I do not have to make ADR for Kona because people seem to get it as walkins pretty easily however I am going to be traveling 9-14 thru 9-22 so I am worried that with the tentative free dining it may be a good idea to have the ADR:confused3 . I am unsure on what day I would like to go. I have never been to Kona and an looking for a little feedback?? Thanks.

This is one of the best kept secrets in Disney. Breakfast is great (Tonga toast has been around since this was the Coral Isle Cafe). Lunch is great as well as dinner. It is definitely worth it and it is a little peice of heritage. Go for it and love it-whatever menu you decide on!

We have eaten at Kona for breakfast, lunch and dinner and enjoyed all three. It is one of our must do restaurants. The Tonga toast is good, but be warned it is HUGE and very fried - I can't eat a whole one, though my husband can. If you are breakfasting up to 9am, you shouldn't have a problem with walk up. If you plan on eating after this it does get quite busy.

Make an ADR if it is really important for you to have a meal at any full service restaurant. With the DDP, the restaurants are quite full, and some are no longer taking walkups even if they can.

Tonga toast is massive and easily shared by two (or more!) adults. If you have it for breakfast, you probably won't be hungry again until dinner!

There is a version of this type of French Toast preparation at the All Star's Food court, too.

It's a nice little restaurant, the Kona Cafe. Enjoy yourself if you go!

Though we usually eat breakfast at Kona around 8:00 AM (or thereabouts) and we've never made ADR's, I suggest you do so if you know when you want to eat and are counting on getting seated.
Better to be safe than sorry.

I would definately make an adr....why chance it...

Kona is awesome..

Also for anyone driving their own car to the poly for a meal, we have had the security guard in the booth look for our name on a reservation at the ohana's before he allowed us to park there.

The secret about Konas is out. I would recommend an ADR.
I love the Tonga Toast and I am not real big on bananas. It is also offered at Capt Cooks Snack Co. (the Poly CS) at a cheaper rate and you never need ADRs there.

Thanks everyone. I will be on the phone today just to be sure. I can't wait  .
