Hi!

We're going to WDW this weekend trip for a quick spur of the moment Mother's Day/Birthday and could only get ressies for O'hana at 9:20 tomorrow night, which we haven't done in awhile. However, we have a chance to make an earlier flight, so we thought of dining at Kona Cafe instead - with kids almost dd 12 and ds 16 who eat almost anything. Has anyone dined there recently? We've only gone to breakfast there but everytime we see the dinner menu there it looks great! We have read the menu on line and were wondering what everyone thought of their dining experience there. We are also looking forward to dine at some new places (LTT for Dinner, Le Cellier for lunch Sunday) this time except for Boma's for Mother's day Dinner (our personal favorite!)

Thanks for your quick review responses as we leave tomorrow!

One of our favorite moderately priced restaurants at Disney. We've never had a bad meal here, and the desserts are always fantastic. You can't go wrong by going here. :)

Mind if I tag along for info???

We have never been  there but want to try it. Thanks for posting.

I can tell you without a doubt that it's a great place to eat.

1. You just can't beat the breakfast they serve and the Tonga toast is so good that it should be against the law to go to the Poly and not try the Tonga toast!

2. Lunch is great also and they serve some darn good burgers.

3. Dinner is a little tricky there for me because of the Asian menu they serve at night. I didn't like alot of what they serve at night but they must be doing something right because it's always busy when I'm there. I don't think you can go wrong eating there.

We ate there for the 1st time a couple of weeks ago - 6 adults, and we had dinner.

We were all really impressed with the meal. If I remember correctly, 2 in our party had the Mahi Mahi, 2 had the steak, 1 had the salmon, and another had the pork.

Everyone seemed to enjoy their meal (my Mahi Mahi was great!). We also had the crab cakes and sticky wings for appetizers, which were also tasty. I highly recommend the Mai Tais, too!!! :rotfl:

We were all so stuffed from our meal that we hadn't planned on ordering desserts, but they did bring out the KoKo Puffs for DH's b-day. They were yummy! I think that then inspired a couple of others at the table to order the creme brulee and the cheesecake - everyone seemed to like.

The service was pretty good, and the dining room is open and airy - but not too loud. Overall, good ambiance, and I'd go back. We also got 20% off with the DDE card, so that was great, too! HTH!

We ate there twice our last trip. The steak is really good and the pork is as well. The pot sticker appetizer is tasty with a nice little spicy / sweet sauce happening.

I'd definitely go if I had the chance.

We think they have the best burgers at WDW. Better than Beaches & Cream. That's our lunch favorite. We've only been once for dinner (this past October) & it was equally as good. I had steak & it was excellent. DH had fish, but I don't remember what kind. Everything was good!

Well, I haven't been recently, but on our girl's trip in 2003, we went the first night; we liked it so much we went back again a few nights later! I had the prime rib one night- loved it. Veggie spring rolls the next night- also delish, but I'm not sure these are on the menu anymore. My mom had the shrimp and scallops one night and the chicken stir fry the other- both got high thumbs up from her as well. I view it as a can't miss from now on.

Kona Cafe is my FAVORITE place to eat in WDW. I have only gotten the terriyaki beef because i love it so much but everything else my family members have had were very good too. GO!! And enjoy it!

We ate there a couple of times. It was not until I got back and started reading all the postiive reviews on the restaurant that I realized we had such a great meal.LOL...smj

When my DH realized we were headed to WDW, that was his first request, dinner at the Kona Cafe. We, too, went there one night on our first trip and went again a second night we liked it so much. Their steaks are wonderful! We'll be there on June 10. I'm already looking forward to it! Aloha, Paula ::MickeyMo

We stopped in for dessert last night, and it was wonderful as always! There's a new dessert for the 50th celebration, a guava and passionfruit mousse with a strawberry center. Yummy!

OK, that settles it...I was already planning to have lunch at Kona one day next week. After hearing about this new dessert, I am now adding a second visit just to try this out! :goodvibes

Hehe, give me passionfruit flavored anything and I'm happy. Have you had the passionfruit meringues at Boma yet? I like those better than the zebra domes! (though, that's not fair, I'm not a huge fan of the zebra domes)

Have you been for lunch before?

Me and a friend dropped by there one evening in December 03. We were going to order appetizers, desert, and drinks. Well, when our server found out it was only appetizers, he basically ignored us, and spent loads of time with a large table nearby with big meals. We never got the opportunity to order the desert and drinks.

Weird.. we've gone in many times just for dessert and coffee, and even let them know ahead of time, and had no problem with service. Maybe just that one guy? Sorry to hear you didn't get to order dessert. :(

I'm a huge fan of passionfruit flavored anything too! I haven't been to Boma yet, and I probably won't make it this trip either. AKL is just so inconvenient to get to when you're staying at the Swan. But when I finally get there I'll be sure and try the passionfruit meringues - they sound yummy!

I've had lunch at Kona Cafe twice, and it was my best meal of the trip both times. Can't wait to go back again!

We're always spoiled by the fact that we have the car, so we can just drive on over. It's unfortunate! Boma and Jiko both are great places for vegetarians.

And lunch at Kona is definitely one of our more memorable meals.

We tried the Kona Cafe for the first time in Nov. We both really enjoyed our dinner there. Will be going back in Dec. for breakfast (must try the tonga toast) and dinner. Can't wait to try the new dessert.
