Kona Cafe reopening reviews please.

I would love to hear this too! I had my ADR day today and got a Kona reservation :) We haven't eaten there before so it will be all new to us regardless.

We ate there Wednesday.
Appetizers - Dh had the soup. He said it was good but the portion looked on the small size to me as the bowl was huge but seemed not too deep. He said the portion was fine.
Sticky wings - We had 6. 3 drumsticks and 3 wings. The sauce was the same as before. They didn’t give you the warm towels as before and our fingers were pretty sticky.
Potstickers - These were served in a round dish and looked like a circular dish all melted together. We had to cut and separate these ourselves. They were ok for me.
We were served 6 rolls and butter. Maybe reminded me of Kings Hawaiian.
I will do entrees next.

That is how the pot stickers have been served lately. The chef makes it into a pancake like thing. When you flip it over you can see the PS better.

Kona has been a regular for us. Many of the menu items look the same or similar to past menus. I’m glad lunch prices still decent.

No towels? I always get those wings and you need the towel! 🤣

Are the noodles salty? We love Ohana noodles but can’t stand salty soy sauce laden noodles.

Entrees - Dh had the Big Kahuna Burger. Said it was good. Fries were skinny and looked like they had skin on some.
Ds and I had the Asian Marinated Airline Chicken. The sauce was good. Small stalk of bok choy and some tomato garnish. Just 4 or 3 small pieces. Sorry I can’t remember if they were hot or cold but tasted marinated.

Dessert - We all shared the Pineapple Bread Pudding with warm caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream. Yum.

Alcohol - Dh had a backscratcher. Ds had 2 drinks. One had a glowing ice cube.

We were about 30 minutes late for our adr but they were accommodating. The check in cast member appeared new or overwhelmed? No smile or warm greeting. She kept looking down at the computer screen perplexed until another cast member assisted her.
The redo seems a little brighter color wise to me. Lots of people waiting when we came out.

Don’t see the noodles on dinner menu, but they are on lunch menu…can you order them at dinner? Thanks!

Considering an ADR at Kona so I can watch the MK fireworks from the Poly beach, but the reviews don't sound encouraging. Sort of ho-hum, it was OK but not great is what I am hearing. We'll see, but if I go, I'll report back.
Gotta go get on a plane: I'M GOING TO DISNEY WORLD THIS MORNING!!

I wonder if they will still offer the regular loco moco at breakfast. I see the plant based one is on the menu and has been for the last year but they have still made me the regular when I asked.

Here's another recent review. I have no affiliation with the channel, but I always find it helpful to see the atmosphere and dishes.

Going tonight at 5 and will post my review after. Video above (1st one) said no good dessert options....uh, wrong. That bread pudding it THE best. She crazy! We will see, though, if we don't get too full for desert tonight. And we also hope to monorail to GF to see gingerbread display...and get a drink at Enchanted bar if it's not too crowded. They have a fave drink of mine there....Lavender Fog.

I agree. We are big fans of the bread pudding. We ordered a cake at Ohana and the waitress was like do you need dessert? Absolutely!

Kona is probably my favorite restaurant on property and the menu isn't that different from pre-construction. I pretty much always get the noodles and they're very good. Less sauce vs capt cooks but more sauce than ohana. Lots of nicely cooked veggies too.

We did captain cooks once when we stayed at the GF, it was really bad. In contract GF QS had a big fish filet sandwich. It was so delicious, but they took it off the menu.
