I don't know which to choose. I've seen a lot of good reviews on O'hana and I've seen the menu. The menu at Kona looks a little better. How is it? Food, atmosphere?
We like 'Ohana better than Kona. For the money that we are spending on meals, we feel that we get a better value at 'Ohana. The food at Kona that we have had for dinner is good but we didn't think it was anything spectacular and would have rather gone to 'Ohanas.
I'd like to know this as well! Is one more "upscale" than the other? Couldn't really tell from the pictures. Is Ohana more geared toward families with the Coconut races? It'll be 4 adults on this trip and I'm not sure which we would enjoy more.
I've done both, and really enjoyed both. Since I have eaten at O'hana's, they have changed the menu (I think there was discussion about it on this board). My kids did not like any of the food at O'hana's, so we ordered them hot dogs. I kinda lean toward Kona, since it is a little more subdued. I have always had a good meal there - both breakfast and dinner.
I agree with this completely. Kona Cafe is one of our favorite places to eat. I tried the new menu at Ohana's and I personnally did not like it except for the dessert (yum).
We are deciding this for our trip as well. We are chosing Kona. We have been to Kona before and really enjoyed our meal. I would like to give Ohana a try but Kona is a better choice for the rest of the family; DH is vegetarian and DD's would need to have a kids meal anyway. So we went with Kona.

We're 2 adults and have done Ohana's a number of times. Only saw coconut races once, and it didn't detract from our experience at all. I like the atmosphere much better at Ohana than Kona, but I prefer the food at Kona.
I agree with PP's. The food at Kona is better in general, but the experience at Ohana would make me take it if I had to choose only one. We always go to both.
Thank you for all of your input! I think the menu looks better for Kona but I think we'll like the atmosphere of O'hana better! I think I made my decision.
The menus for both places look fine for our gang. I also looked at what photos I could find online.
Yet I would like more info on the atmosphere of Kona. Any activities such as they have at Ohanas? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Just a little note: I am planning a surprise family reunion for 9 people, ages: 2, 5, 9, 18, 21, 24, 29, 40 and 50, most of whom have never been to WDW! and I really want this to be a trip to remember. Any opinions, please?
We liked Kona's for dinner, too, but Ohana's was a better deal for our older family.
BTW, like others have said, the coconut races don't distract from the atmosphere at all. They only happen one every hour (if that) and it's all of two minutes long.
