Hi planning on booking one of the above for dinner but can't decide which one,any opinions appreciated
Thanks:banana:

We enjoy dining at both restaurants. But if choosing between the two I would go with Jiko. Along with California Grill, it is our favorite place to eat.

Those are two very different places.

We have eaten at both and enjoyed both.

It really depends on a few thing -
1 price
2 atmosphere (Jiko is more relaxed and quiet while I would say Kona is more family friendly since it is so open)
3 quality of food (both are delicious but Jiko is one of the best meals I have ever had at Disney).

Look at the menus. See what looks more appealing to you. If you have any questions I'd be happy to answer them.

We've done both and much prefer Jiko's. Superb food and atmosphere.

Try the incredible steak with mac and cheese!

And: get an early reservation, say 5:30. Arrive at the Lodge around 5, and you can wander out to the savannah and watch them feed the animals. The animals are hungry and active, and tend to wander closer to the viewing area. You get to see THEM eat before YOU do :rotfl:

Since we've only eaten at Kona, I can't compare the two, but I can say Kona has AWESOME steak....the prime rib and filet are out of this world :goodvibes.

They are very different - hard to compare.

Jiko is a fine dining establishment. Very neat atmosphere, top notch service (typically), excellent chef created dishes, huge African wine list, quiet and laid back.

Kona is a hotel lobby restaurant. Great food but not fine dining, good service, lobby atmosphere, find for families and children, not quiet and laid back.

I love both. If I want a night out with my DH, we would head to Jiko. If I wanted a place to eat before hitting the MK in park attire, I'd pick Kona.

Jiko is our absolute favorite, although we like Kona a lot.

As others said..it's a big difference. Jiko is a place to have a lingering meal. Kona is more like you favorite local sit down place. If money is a consideration, Kona will be far more affordable..not that Jiko isn't worth every penny, it is!

Enjoy!

Wow - Slam Dunk review right there. Took the words right out of my mouth! Ditto above(except I would go for a night out with my DW, not your DH!! :rotfl: )

another vote for jikos!! kona is very good as well but we love, love, love jikos!!:thumbsup2

With kids I'd go with Kona, without Jiko. Depends on where your going to be for the day. Kona's easy to get to on the monorail, Jiko is only easy from AK
