Does anyone know whether Kona Cafe gives their delicious loaf of bread complimentary at lunch? And if you have to ask for it, has anyone here done that and been successful at it?

Thanks!

They don't have the bread at lunch:sad2: it is baked fresh for the dinner service so I think you should go to both!;) because you mentioned it...I want some now!pirate:

yes, the bread is available at lunch but you do have to ask for it :)

They do not serve it at lunch. We called ahead of time and told yes. When we got there thewe waitress said they didn't have any. They do not serve it at lunch. If they do have a loaf it is old from the night before.

The bread IS available at lunch....just ask for it. If they don't have any left the server will let you know

It sounds to me like what you're saying is that you can get yesterday's bread at lunch if there are any leftovers available. Seems pretty in line with what the other posters on this thread are saying: the restaurant does not serve this bread at lunchtime.

I'm not going to argue about whether bread is available at lunch or not...the PP's obviously know more then I do....The next time a guest asks me for bread during lunch I'll just tell them it's not available because the DIS said so :worship: :lmao:

Sometimes it's not available because enough has not been baked yet since technically it's only served at dinner. One of my side duties during closing between breakfast and lunch is to go to the bakery and get the bread and put it in the warmer. So there is the answer!! :)

I guess you must have been off the day we went. They did not have bread at lunch during our August 2011 trip.

We called the morning we had a reservation and were told 'yes' they serve bread at lunch. When we arrived I was informed by the waitress that she could get us bread, but she had to get the chef since my son had a problem with peanuts. I told her that we had eaten the bread before and it is ok. We waited a long time for the chef. When he came he tried to talk us out of the bread. I told him we were fine and my son had had it before. After we were served our lunch, the waitress informed us that they were out of bread and were trying to find some leftover from 'Ohana. Oh my...

My family was very upset because we would have gone for dinner instead of lunch had we known this. I asked for the manager. She informed me they do not serve the bread at lunch. Sometimes if there are any leftovers from the night before and you ask for it they will serve it. They only cook it once a day and that day it would not be ready until 5pm. She also told me that when I called that morning I should have asked for a manager instead of talking to anyone who answers because I was told wrong. Never even thought that I would need to ask for a manager.

I just want to save anyone else from what we went through. I know it seems silly to worry over bread but it is about the experience and memories for us.

If you go at lunch time and ask for bread and they happen to have leftovers from the night before, then you will get a loaf. But please don't count on it.

We went for lunch, a late one, and asked for bread

Our server told us bread is only available at dinnertime.
