I have a dinner res. for Kona Cafe and have never eaten there. Does anyone have opinions, advice, etc.? Thanks

We have eaten there for breakfast. it was great! From what I have read it is very good as far as lunch and dinner. We are at the poly in Jan. and will be trying out a lunch reservation.:thumbsup2

Go hungry. The bread they give you to snack on, along with the macadamia nut butter, is soo good! The steaks are very tastey too.

I was going to mention the Hawaiian bread with the macadamia nut butter, too! I call it "Kona Crack" because it's THAT addictive. I was going to advise not to fill up too much on it! Although I wouldn't blame anyone if they did!

I tasted the pomegranate BBQ pork chop (not what I ordered) and almost had entree regret. It was one of my top pork chops I've ever tasted. I did enjoy my steak, though. I don't think you can go wrong with their steak.

This is my number one plce to eat either breakfast or dinner. In fact I have ADR's for both in November. Best coffee IMHO also.

In May I had the ginger crusted ribeye which was excrllent as was dh terriyaki steak. We both didint care for the broccollini that was served with it.

We shared an order of sticky wings as an appetizer but that could have been a meal in itself and we both fought over the bananna creme brule. It was out of this world! We are going again in december, cant wait!!

We eat there every visit--the tuna oscar is our favorite. I agree with the bread--we usually don't order an app there because we would be too full to eat dinner after the delicious bread.

Perfect description. The bread n butter is THAT good.
I had the Teriyaki-style New York Strip and it was fabulous. And the Banana-Chocolate Creme Brulee was my favorite dessert of our trip.:lovestruc

We just got back and ate dinner at Kona twice. As everyone says the macadamia nut butter and bread are fantastic. Look at the menu on all ears. We had the chefs experience meal both times (comes with appetizer, entree, and desert for one price). I had the coconut almond chicken and DH had the Mahi Mahi. The menu changed last Sunday. They took the Mahi Mahi off of the regular menu, but you can still get it even though it has changed. It is now macadamia nut encrusted and comes with plantains and veggies (which DH subbed for rice). He enjoyed it the old way and the new way. I love the chicken and get it everytime we go.

We ate there last year and loved it. I had the teriyaki steak and DH had the shrimp and scallops. He had the white chocolate cheesecake for dessert and I had this...

It was my favorite dessert of the trip!

I had the Sushi appetizer for dinner and combined with the bread, I had no room for dessert. DD had a sushi combo plate - you can order sushi from Kona's sushi island and she raved about the poke. Our friends enjoyed the steak and mahi mahi and no one had room for dessert which was disappointing because they looked fantastic!

Teriyaki steak and a Kona Kone. You are making me relive my meal. Not that I am complaining.:rotfl2:

My wife even suggested eating at Kona Cafe twice on our next trip.

I really enjoyed the crab cake appetizer and the shrimp and scallops entree at Kona. And everyone is right about how good the bread is! It was the best meal we had on our last trip and we will be returning there in a few weeks.

I love Kona for dinner and look forward to a meal there nearly every trip. Nothing else I could write would adequately describe the Hawaiian bread and macadamia butter. The near-unanimous praise speaks for itself. You rarely see the people on this board come to a consensus. That tells you something.

I also like the sticky wings appetizer, the shrimp and scallops and tuna Oscar entrees and the chocolate cake and white chocolate cheesecake desserts.

Thanks to all of you. You have laid my fears to rest and I can't wait. Especially for that Kona Kone

I just reserved Kona Cafe for NYE.

They will allow me to park at the Poly for dinner reservations?

I'd like to stick around at the resort after dinner - is this allowed?

Yes to both questions. The times I have driven to Poly I never had to tell anyone I had dinner reservations; we just parked and went in. You are allowed to park for up to three hours.

It's a good meal to relive. ;)

I'm bummed we probably won't get there on our next trip, although we are looking at Ohana for breakfast. Want to try some new places. :)
