Hi! I was thinking of going to Kona Cafe for dinner with my DH on August 4th for our 2nd anniversary. I really want to go somewhere where the food is good but in a more casual atmosphere than California Grill. Also we are coffee fans so that sounded appealing and I thought we could stroll around afterwards and catch the water parade and fireworks? Has anyone else eaten dinner here lately? (I've heard the breakfast is yummy!) I'm wondering how service and atmosphere rank. Thanks in advance for your help!

The food is absolutely WONDERFUL, but service and atmosphere are lacking. I feel this is one of the hidden gems of WDW dining. Our service here has always been spotty at best, and the restaurant is open to the lobby area, and you get noise whenever the monorail comes in, since the entrance to the GCH is right next to the reataurant. It is a VERY casual place, park clothes are the norm. We now make Kona a stop on every visit!!

By my signature you can tell that we've stayed at the Polynesian many times. We've always loved breakfast there but only started going to dinner there a few trips back. The food is wonderful, atmosphere is very casual as jel0511 noted and we've always had fast and attentive service save one breakfast about three years ago.

Over the past 2 years we have had 2 breakfasts, 3 dinners, and 2 take out lunches(sticky wings) from the Kona. All times the food, service and atmosphere were all wonderful!

We did have 1 night in WDW without our kids and my pick for dinner was the Kona. After dinner we took a stroll down the path to the wedding pavillion. It was beautiful(and deserted too).

Thanks guys! At least I know that we don't have to worry about getting all fancied up after we spend the day at BB! As long as the food is yummy I'm sold!

Make sure you have an order of STicky Wings. The caramel banana creme brulee and the Kilueau Torte are fantastic for dessert. The pressed pot of Kona coffee (around $7 I think) was the best coffee my DH has ever had.
