I have desperately been trying to get an ADR at Ohana's with no luck, so I was thinking of trying Kona instead. I'm looking for a nice (translated relaxed) place for dinner on the monorail line, with good coffee since I'm going to attempt late EMH at MK.

Opinions?

It is one of my favorites--it can be a bit noisy since waiting for Ohana is just outside--My favorite is the Terriyaki Steak--Coffee is also good:thumbsup2

YES!!!! Kona is GREAT!!!! One of our favs for sure. I agree the teriayki steak is great - the bread is great and the chocolate cake dessert is great! I think you will be very happy there. We liked it better than Ohana, actually! :) Maybe not as "fun" but great food!!

Kona is a good choice for a relaxed meal near the MK. Our choices from the menu were a little hit-or-miss, but the things that were good were very, very good. We LOVED the wings, the lapu lapu (pinapple drink) and the island sunset. Our entrees were meh - the coconut chicken, and the shrimp and scallops. But I've since heard great things about the teriyaki steak. We didn't get to try the bread since they had run out.

I highly recommend Kona. The Tuna has always been good when I have been there.

I think the food is better than Ohana.
In my experience Ohana tends to overcook everything.
The entertainment at Ohana was better than the food the few times I was there.

I prefer Kona over Ohana. If relaxing is a key, please consider the Grand Floridian Cafe. It's on the monorail line (of course) and it will be quieter than Kona. We've eaten at the GFC on our last two trips and were very pleased with the food.:earsboy:

We love Kona Cafe and eat dinner there at least twice every trip. We have never had a bad meal. I like the coconut chicken, hubby likes the teriyaki steak and the mahi mahi. You can also get pressed pot coffee as your drink on the. The bread and butter are excellent. Give me a spoon and a bowl of that butter and I would be happy.

Its my favorite dinner each trip! DD7 loves it too cause they get umbrellas in their drinks.

The Tuna Oscar is the best entree ever, anywhere! The kitchen can be slow though, so prepare for a very relaxing and long meal! As long as you go into it knowing that, it should be great!

We ate at Kona during the summer for dinner and we were all pleasantly surprised. :goodvibes The atmosphere was very relaxed, comfortable, and could be romantic (we had our dd with us). We were there during 4th of July week and the restaurant wasn't at capacity when we dined (around 5pm). The food was fantastic! The dessert was to DIE for!!! ...but of all this, I would go back just for the hawaiian type bread and sushi!!!

i'll post some pics for u! sorry if the pics are massive. my pics are always large cause i don't know how to adjust them from photobucket.

One of my favorite meals when we go to the World (a must do every time).

Volcano Roll from the sushi bar, Tuna Oscar, and the Chocolate Fondue. Making me hungry just thinking about it :goodvibes

Thanks for your reviews and recommendations. DH and I will be eating here for the first time on our trip in May!

Kona is fantastic. We went last year and everyone loved their meals. DH said it was one of the best meals he had on our trip.

Another vote for loving Kona!! We're doing it again this coming up trip in june, first night!! I can't wait for a Lapu Lapu!!!

We have eaten at Kona every trip we have taken - we have never been disappointed. WE have only eaten at Ohana once and have never returned. I have to also agree with a previous poster - GFC is very good as well.

we love kona as well- they have been playing around with the menu for a bit- but we love the potstickers there. The miso mahi mahi and the terriyaki steaks are always great. We'll always go back there- did Ohana once and never again.

In all of our trips to WDW we have never at at Kona's. Well I just decided today it was about time me and my family try this and was able to get a reservation for our upcoming trip in a few weeks! Can't wait to try it!

Here's another positive comment for Kona! Last time we actually went twice, once for breakfast (I love the macadamia pineapple pancakes, dad loves the Tonga Toast) and once for dinner. I tend to be a fairly picky eater and have always been able to find something at Kona. I've been there a total of 3 times over 2 trips and it's always been busy which I don't mind because that usually means my food hasn't been sitting in the back for 30 min. The flipside of that is it seems sometimes the servers can get a little overwhelmed. If you don't mind the chance that it might take a little while for that server to get you another drink, it's fine, but I wouldn't go if you're going to be in a hurry.
