Kona Cafe dinner menu question

Ok, so we're looking at a couple more options for special meals while we're on the family trip.

Christmas Eve we are going to Artist Point. That's set and we're happy with that.

The day after Christmas we were going to do lunch at Chefs de France, but changed to brunch (a late breakfast, so we're calling it brunch) at Chef Mickey's - that's the meal I'm covering, and I think it's fun to do a character meal even though we're all adults! :)

Our dilemma is Christmas night. We currently have a reservation at Ohana (no, don't worry, we're not making multiple ones...I'm just asking this because it's still available, and I know my dad was interested in Kona), but like I just said, my dad was really interested in Kona Cafe also. He's eaten at both. We looked at the menus, and while the Disney World official site menu lists their two steak options, the "updated as of 5/10" menu on this site doesn't list them. That's the primary reason we booked Ohana - so that I'd have something I could eat. I don't eat fish (not allergic, but after choking on a bone when I was little, the taste makes me gag and it's not a pretty sight), I'm not a huge pork fan and eat it rarely, and while I love chicken I'm allergic to coconut so that dish is out. If the steaks are really on the menu, I think it would make my dad really happy to change to Kona, but I don't know.

Or I guess does anyone have experience with the chicken to know if it could be made without the coconut?

Thanks in advance!

We ate at Kona for dinner on July 21, 2010. They had 2 steaks on the menu (ginger crusted ribeye and teriyaki NY Strip).

I had the coconut almond chicken you are talking about. Not sure if they would just give you plain chicken without coconut, but you could always ask. I know they marinate the chicken in coconut milk before putting on the coating which also contains coconut.

They also have Pan Asian Noodles available with chicken.

And, if you want, you could make a meal out of appetizers. People rave about their sticky chicken wings, and you could get a salad too if you want, to make a meal out of that.

We loved the Kona dinner! The banana chocolate creme brulee was also wonderful for dessert, and the Kona pressed pot coffee is amazing!! There is a link in my signature to my dining reviews if you would like to read about it.

By the way, I notice you're from Brooklyn, NY. So are we!! :goodvibes

Cool! Thanks for the info!

And woohoo Brooklyn!! :goodvibes

My pleasure!! And yes, WOO-HOO Brooklyn!! I still love it here...and I'm sure you'll agree with me that we have some of the best restaurants ever here! And of course, THE best pizza and bagels! ;)

The steaks are REALLY good. Hubby and I absolutely love the teryaki NY strip. YUMMMM
