We booked a trip 40 days out for the end of September, so naturally there's slim pickings on advanced dining reservations.

Wanted to try this place out but wasn't sure if it's hard to get into or not? I assumed Ohana would be the big draw in the mornings.

Any insight would be great! Thanks in advance!

Last time we went (October 2015) we had an early morning ADR and loved it so much we wanted to go back again. We went back 4 days in a row without a reservation and each time we were told they were booked and not taking walk-ins. I don't know if that is the norm but for our next trip we are planning to make at least 2 ADR's here just to be on the safe side....

Are you staying at the Poly? If so, trying for a walk up is a no harm no foul thing, If not, I would not bother. I do not like traveling for meals unless I know I have an ADR, it can be time-consuming with little return. Keep trying for an ADR and hopefully one wil open up.

Doubtful.

We were staying at the Poly last September and had a Kona breakfast ADR. The night before, we decided to cancel since we were tired from Food & Wine all day. Well, wouldn't you know, we woke up early and decided to try to walk up. They were full and turned us away. And we were just a party of 2.

I appreciate everyone's responses, I'll be looking elsewhere! And thanks for the touringplans reservation finder, that's awesome! :)

The Grand Floridian Cafe is a nice option. Not quite as hectic as Kona can be and they seem to have better availability.

My sister, my mom & I decided to resort hop one morning and wanted to try Kona Cafe for breakfast around 8:30am in October. We didn't have a reservation. We were seated within 5 minutes. The restaurant was not busy at all.

We were there during Spring Break last year. Woke up and felt like going there. Called and made a reservation for 45 minutes from the time I called - ended up being something like 9:30. Times in app were different from those available with phone call. So, try both. We were staying at Coronado and had a car. Don't think I would have chanced just showing up, but calling same day worked for us. Kona is my very favorite Disney breakfast!
