DD just made ADRs for Kona this week. Would the sushi appetizer for two be enough for one person as dinner? DD and I love sushi and polynesian food but the friends who are with us aren't really into it. Any suggestions for menu items for them to try? TIA!!

When my boyfriend and I ate there in January we didn't order entrées at all. We split a volcano roll, lump crab cakes and pot stickers and that was more than enough for us. I think the sushi platter for two would also make for a very substantial main course.

The sushi platter for two is 4 pieces each of 3 rolls, and they're not particularly large (wide) rolls. I don't think it would be enough for me for dinner, although you do get bread and if you're on the DDP you get dessert also. So maybe, if that person isn't very hungry. But usually at a sushi restaurant, I'd probably eat that many pieces of maki, a few (2-4) pieces of nigiri, a bowl of miso soup, and maybe a house salad.

We just ate here and the sushi appetizer was huge and so was the sticky wings for two there were 5 in our party and we all shared those two and there was still some left over. My Dad doesnt like polynesian food so he was able to get a chicken noodle soup and a plain chicken breast and french fries

Thanks; I hadn't even thought of ordering some rolls or nigiri.

Probably not enough for DD; all you can eat sushi is her favorite meal. We aren't on the DP but I believe DD will receive the CM discount for the total bill.

Glad to know there are options for the non-Asian members of our group. Being from California, I find it hard to believe they will not eat sushi!!

I think your friends would enjoy the sticky wings

Thanks; will advise them of this. They have traveled to Hawaii before and only ate American cuisine - they do not know what they are missing!!

The pot stickers and sticky wings are pretty good appetizers.

The pineapple terriyaki steak with mashed potatoes is good.

And he Kiluea torte is good as well.

Pretty good meal and service at Kona.

I will often order the Sticky Wings as my main course. It is about 12 wing pieces plus a salad.

I appreciate all of the replies! :thumbsup2 We are off to Los Angeles tomorrow and fly out of LAX on Wednesday morning - almost there!!
