Kona Cafe and Kona Island experts...

Hi there. We will be staying at the Poly and I am loving the menu at Kona for lunch. Right now we made adrs for 2pm most days.. but is this necessary? Can we just walk up and get a table during the week? If not, does the Kona Island have the same menu for lunch time? I saw online that Kona Island has the same dinner menu as Kona, but for lunch it just shows appetizers that are the same. I've been to Kona many times, but never to Kona Island.. can you please explain how it works? Can you get entrees there 'to go'?

You cannot order entrees at breakfast to go. You can order room service, from your room, on which you will see overlap: http://allears.net/dining/menu/polynesian-in-room-dining/all-day.

Kona can be unpredictable. If you must eat there, have an ADR. They can be suddenly popular on hot days, rainy days, etc. and start turning people without ADRs away.

When is your trip?

Kona can be wildly popular in early AM, as many people who thought they could walk into Ohana turn to them for breakfast......

We have done the wait for Kona a few times as its our favorite place to eat at POLY......average waits were 20-40 minutes.

We never got seated right away unless we were there at opening.....and even them most times we had to wait at least 20....

I would definitely make an ADR to be safe. We were there for lunch one day when it was raining and it was very busy. I didn't see anyone getting turned away, but I wouldn't want to run the risk.

And enjoy lunch! We had 10 days on the Deluxe Dining Plan and ate lunch at Kona 2x. It was (surprisingly) my favorite lunch of our trip!
