I was thinking of eating dinner at Kona Cafe at the Poly next visit, and I was just wondering if it's just as good as Ohana? I LOVE Ohana, the food and service was AMAZING! I've read great reviews of Kona.

And are the food selections similar to Ohana??

I like them both. It just depends if I'm in the mood for the O'hana menu or not. Lately I will say that I enjoy Kona a bit more than O'hana -- I'm one the of the few people who misses the pineapple/caramel dessert, the rice, the steamed veggies, etc. I don't really care for the potatoes, broccoli and bread pudding - JMHO

I think the food quality is better at Kona. The atmosphere is better at Ohanas. Different experiences; but equally as good in their own way.

Do they have Ohana's lo mein noodles, or noodles similar to them? They were sooooooo good.

We had always loved Kona's for breakfast but had never tried dinner until this past April. I was tired of hearing my friend rave about it so we went. I have to say I was disappointed. The chicken wings were great as an appetizer but the rest was just average to me. Personal choice but I much prefer O'Hana

We've only been to Kona twice and it was wonderful both times! So much that this next trip next month we are going again!:woohoo:

Yes, there is an entree that is Asian noodles. You have the option of adding chicken or shrimp, I believe. I had them on my last trip in March. They were pretty good. My favorite thing at Kona is the dessert -- I LOVE the chocolate/banana creme brulee! I'm anxiously anticipating that on our trip in October!

Oooooh thanks, I'm most likely gonna come here next trip then :thumbsup2

Well I don't think Ohanas is good at all, actually some items are pretty bad, like the main course meats, so although I know everyone's taste are different, my opinion of Konas might not compare to what you would think since you think Ohanas was amazing, or maybe if thats the case, you would think Konas was out of this world :lmao: But I think Kona is very good. The food is always very good, and so is the service. I thought the service in Ohahas wasn't good but it does depend on the server so I never fault a place for that unless its a reoccurance or something horrible happens.

The Kona Cafe is terrible, don't ever, ever waste your time eating there. Please discourage everyone from going there. :rolleyes1

I need to make sure there are ADRs available when I need them. ;)

Seriously though, the Kona is awesome, and for the past few years I have preferred it to 'Ohana.

I think the atmosphere is funner at Ohana, but I prefer the food at Kona.

You scared me at first, then I read the rest of your post :rotfl:

I think Kona is a really good restaurant and the fewer people that know that the better. SShhhhhhhh!!

Kona is different than Ohana. I can't rate them as the same. Personally I prefer Kona because I don't do well at all you can eat type situations. I liked them both the same but for me the quality of the food was better at Kona. I just like getting MY own meal. DH however preferred Ohana because well...he likes to eat and eat and eat :) And he is a big meat eater. The salad and dumplings is what I ate at Ohana. Oh and the dessert which was YUM-O! I like both places enough to not be able to choose one over the other for our next trip so we just decided to do both again !

My family prefers Kona for breakfast and 'Ohana for dinner.

Our next trip to WDW is considerably shorter than our previous couple trips, with fewer meals on the dining plan. So I asked everybody, "what restaurants can we absolutely not miss this time?"

The answer? 4 out of 6 of them said 'Ohana. 3 out of 6 said Le Cellier; 2 out of 6 said Tutto Italia; 2 out of 6 said Jiko. NOBODY said Kona was a must-do, though my kids asked if we could do breakfast there and pay out of pocket one day.

'Ohana is better for the variety of foods you can eat. You'd have to order 7 or 8 different meals at Kona just to get the same kind of variety/selection. Individually, there are 2 or 3 dishes at Kona that are 'better' (subjective, of course) than anything you can get at 'Ohana. So it depends. If there's a particular dish you want that is served at Kona but not at 'Ohana, then Kona is a better choice. But if you want variety, and kids' activities, and a party atmosphere, then you can't beat 'Ohana.

We've had 2 bad experiences at Ohana (bad food, bad service and very poor table location) but in contrast we loved Kona last trip for food, service and lovely relaxed atmosphere. Huge portions too!

Much Much Much Better!
We make Kona a stop every year, sometimes several times during one visit, but stopped going to Ohana. Always felt rushed and the food wasn't that great. Kona is a much more relaxed dinner or lunch and the food it outstanding.

Kona is th best! :thumbsup2

I would rather go to McDonalds than Ohana. Three poor experiences and I'm done :lmao::lmao:
