Kona at 5 or 8:15

Hi everyone,
I have a 5:00pm KONA adr in Dec. We are planning to go to MK to see the parade at 7:00 and fireworks. Would we make it back into the park on a EMH night by 6:30 ? I was thinking of changing Kona to 8:15pm.
But could we make it to Kona in time to see wishes from the beach ?

5 pm is the first seating time at Kona, and you should be able to get right in and order. If you have an attentive waiter and no issues with ordering (special orders, etc.) I would think you'd be finished by 6:15-6:20 at latest. That *should* give you time to make the short monorail ride back to MK by 6:30, but will be cutting it close. I am never a fan of late dinners, so my bias leans toward the 5 pm over the 8:15. I would not count on getting out to the beach by 9 pm with the 8:15 pm ressie, either. As the dinners go the reservation times can get pushed back, so you might not get in right at 8:15and it's possible the kitchen would be backed up, as well. Just my thoughts... good luck and have fun!

Funny, my wife and I had the same conversation this afternoon planning our next trip.

I think either will work, but the 5:00 seating is doable if you are trying to eat earlier and then stay in the park for the evening. You will need to be efficient once you get in to find the right place for the parade, but the fireworks will work out just fine. We've eaten at Kona twice and had a quick, snappy dinner when we needed to and a lazy, calm lunch when we wanted that. Both times the restaurant was fairly busy, yet the service was accommodating to our needs and timing requests.
