Kona and 'Ohana overkill?

We will be staying at the Poly from Oct 2nd-7th and I really want to plan breakfast and dinner at both restaurants. Do you think that's overkill? We did 'Ohana breakfast in November, and thought the food was great and enjoyed the Character interaction. Just looking at the reviews and menus makes me really want to do both for breakfast and dinner :)

Oh and we won't be on the dining plan if that makes a difference. Well we will have the dining plan for our 'Ohana dinner on the 2nd, but not for the other three meals (we're doing a split stay).

So..overkill or totally worth it?

Personally, I don't think it's overkill. It's not like the menus are exactly the same. Plus, it would be insanely convenient for you since you're staying there. I say go for it!

I don't think it's overkill. We often do both because they are different.

I would drop Ohana for breakfast - I personally don't like the breakfast there. The choices are uninventive, and the food comes out lukewarm to the the family style production line format.

Kona is great for breakfast - more interesting choices (macadamia nut pancakes and tonga toast anyone)? And the food is cooked to order.

I love both for dinner though - two different experiences. There are just many better character breakfasts than Ohana, IMO.

Why not? I think these are two of the best places to visit, so why not take advantage of it since you are staying there?

I say its your vacation and you can do whatever you want!

When we stay at the Poly we do Ohana and Kona for breakfast but not dinner, we do not like either for dinner

Kona is very good for breakfast and dinner, and the menus both have interesting takes on familiar items. Were I staying there, I'd definitely do Kona for both meals, too. 'Ohana, on the other hand, has a pretty standard and boring breakfast menu.

If you wanted my opinion on the matter, I'd say drop that reservation and hop on the monorail to head on over to the Grand Floridian Cafe for breakfast. The prices and menu selection are good, and the food is excellent. It's a beautful restaurant, too.

I have not done breakfast at either. We are not big breakfast eaters. But, we love Ohana for dinner! I would go there every night if my family we let me! It is not overkill if you enjoy it!

I say go for it!!!

Thanks for all of your advice :) Since we have already done the 'Ohana breakfast, I don't think it would be a harm to not do it next time. I am really really looking forward to the Kona breakfast though. I bought a disney cookbook when we were there and made tonga toast at home, it was so decadent (more like a dessert really!) and I can only imagine it would be even better with them making it :)

I'd do both. As has been noted, the menus at each (and the atmosphere) are quite different.

If it is what you want to do then it should be worth it and not over kill. I would question why you asking, so I would remind you the monorail and water yacht is right outside your door and can easily take you to dine at the GF, CR or WL.

Frankly, the Kona Cafe is one of my 3 favorites places in WDW to eat. And both dinner and breakfast are more than worth it.

'ohana is in my opinion the best character breakfast to go to. I like dinner there as well

If I had to remove one meal it would probably be dinner at 'ohana, but I you will be doing just fine at 'ohana

Definitely not overkill. Going for breakfast and dinner at the same restaurant is different AND Kona and Ohana are very different restaurants. Definitely utilize the convenience of your own resort!
