Kohls Cash not really 'Cash'...Is this normal policy?

This happened to me at the store for the first time this week. I usually hand them the coupon then when I get the total I give them the Kohl's cash as payment. This time I gave them both at the same time. I was also surprised. I am not sure if my way of handing them the coupon and then the KC still works (I have been using my KC online for most of the past year) but in the past it has.

Doesn't matter in what order it is scanned, the computer will still take the Kohls cash / $ off first. I litterally just got back from Kohls and had a $5 reward, 20% off & $30 KC. My total was <$30 so only the Kohls Cash got redeemed. The cashier did the % off, $5 reward, then the KC.

Ooohh...no. The receipt paid was post-Kohl's cash. So I got $20.27 back. Bit of a bummer I was behaving myself while shopping.

I just had the same thing happen but I really didn't care. it was the first time I used Kohls cash I got a coffee maker on sale $199, had $150 in Kohls cash and the 25% off. It came to $40.03. Cuisinart had a rebate for $50 so I made $10.
The $150 in KC came from buying 2 Kitchen aid mixers for presents with 30% off plus on sale and they both have $50 rebates. So I spent around $300 for 2 mixers, a SS coffee maker, 3 sets of corning ware and 2 food network serving trays.
I'm happy!

I am trying to figure out how you paid around 300.00 for everything, when you would have had to 750.00 to earn the 150.00 in Kohls cash.

Over Thanksgiving and Black Friday, you got $15 of Kohl's cash for every $50 you spent (not the normal $10 for $50), so she would have only had to spend $500 to get $150 Kohl's cash. Then she will get $150 in rebates for the appliances she bought. That would be around $300ish.

What's your experience using out-of-date kohl's cash. I have $30 valid from march to april 2013, but couldn't use it. (live in Canada). Should I try to use when I go to Buffalo next week?

They take it. As a matter of fact I just used $10 expired KC at a Buffalo store last evening. The Milestrip store to be exact. I do it all the time. The cashier just has to override.

Trust me Kohls would rather give you the expired money then have you leave without purchasing everything else in your cart. Last night I had $100 in Kohls Cash($10 was expired) plus $30 in rewards and a 25% off coupon. I bought about $170 worth of stuff. My total cost was about $30 and change. Not bad for all the items I bought. I basically paid 1/2 price for the set of bowls I bought and the other half along with everything else was free.

I'm glad it works for some people. It is far too confusing to me and I really hate it. I think the point is to confuse people so you're never quite sure whether or not you got a deal . I've made some good purchases from Kohl's but I've also had a lot of frustrating experiences so I tend to just avoid that place. I do have a Kohl's card but I usually find better deals without the tricks at other stores.

I didn't realize that Kohls gave $15 in Kohls cash instead of $10 for Black Friday! That was a great deal!

Not to split hairs but, the PP actually spent around 400.00 for her items instead of 300.00, which is quite a difference. If I understand it right she spent 500.00 on Black Friday and then she said she spent 40.03 when she used her Kohls cash. She then will get 150.00 back in rebates for a total of 390.04. That is assuming that she spent exactly 500.00 on Black Friday. If she spent $510.00 or $520.00 then her total would be over $400.00. Still an AWESOME deal for all she purchased for sure!

I shop there, because they have a good selection of sweatshirts/sweatpants/athletic t-shirts that my boys like. However, because of the Kohls cash and % off coupons I think that some people often think they are getting a better deal than they actually are.

On a normal day I find Kohls to be overpriced. But $15/$50 was a good deal when I purchased the $139 TV and the Dr Dre Beats Pill for $149 and a few other door busters. Totaling over $300. I needed these items anyway. Making $30 in KC and $30 in Bonus rewards was a side benefit. Spending the $90+$30+25% off everything else I purchased was worth it to me. Did I over pay for things? I'm sure. But they were free!

My quick 2-cents on the expired Kohl's cash-- it depends on the individual store. We have two here within 10 miles of each other. At one, they tell you your Kohl's cash "never expires," the other won't take it after the date printed on it. So yeah, take it with you next time you're on our side of the fence and give it a try, ask at customer service and see what they say (or call first, but be sure to get the name of the person you spoke to.)

Regarding how the discounts stack, I used my $15 yesterday on a $21.xx item... I paid $5.69, as the Kohl's cash came off first and the 20% came off the $6.xx that was left, saving me an extra $1.20ish. Not bad for a toy that's sold out EVERYWHERE

I agree with the above. I have a Kohls near my house that accepts expired Kohls Cash with no problem. I also have a Kohls near where I work and they won't accept it if it's expired. I went to the one near my house yesterday to buy a Keurig that was $149, which is the same current price at all the other local department stores and online (I checked). I used $20 expired Kohls Cash plus I had a 25% off coupon plus I received $20 more dollars in Kohls Cash. Not bad and I think I did get a good deal. I bought nothing else while I was there. I think that's the key to getting a good deal. Know what you want before you go by checking prices beforehand and stick to buying that one item.

Well, i wanna come shop where you shop then. I live in the Greater Boston area and Kohl's is pretty darn cheap compared when I can get a good sale price or clearance and then get an additional 30% off. I bought my daughter (grown daughter, not little kid) some nice sweaters for $12 a piece this morning--you can't even get a decent, quality sweater at walmart for $12. Microplush sheets for $20 a set (twin), cuddle duds for $12 a piece. I also had a little bit of Kohl's cash to use. And free shipping. And I sat on my couch to do it.

Yes you can find deal at Kohls. But in reality, they do not sell 90% of their items at the inflated "retail price."

I love Kohl's deals.
I just left there with 2 pairs of really cute kiddo shoes, a denim vest, billfold & a scarf. Spent $20 & that wasn't with kohls cash but off clearance.
I get the best deals ever at kohls.
