Kohl’s cash when Kohl’s cancels item

I bought a $300 item online from Kohl’s on Black Friday. I earned $90 in Kohl’s cash. Received notice today that my order has been cancelled by Kohl’s due to our of stock (how does that even happen?). Anyway, I did some research on their site and found that if Kohl’s cancels an order (not the customer canceling), that you can keep the Kohl’s cash?

“Sorry that we had to remove items or cancel your entire order! Since we had to cancel due to the merchandise being out of stock, the amount of Kohl's Cash you earned will not change.”

I’m skeptical. Anyone experience this?

Happened to me a few years ago. Bought a TV online during black Friday. Kohl's cancelled it and I got to keep the Kohl's cash. Wasn't charged.
