Our daughter (she's 17) would like a new digital camera for Christmas. I found the the Kodak Z915, and it seems to have all the bells and whistles that she wants. Plus it is in our price range. She really wants a camera that shoots video with sound (which this has). Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Here is the one that I found on Amazon:

www.amazon.com/Kodak-EasyShare-Digital-Optical-Stabilized/dp/B0021Y27HW/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF

Almost every digital camera out nowadays will shoot video with sound. Perhaps you could let us know what she wants and we could help find the best models for her?

Thanks. :)

She would like:

Video and sound. Probably for youtube
Takes decent pictures
Mom and dad would like to stay in the $150 price range.

She has a Kodak Easyshare that is about 5 years old. It's getting dated, and she wants more of an upgrade. She was looking at the Samsung DualView, but it was way out of our price range. Thanks for your help.

I am figuring she would highly value portability. So I'm going to recommend the Canon SD1200 IS. It's SLIGHTLY above your budget but it's worth it for your darling daughter right?

OR

The Panasonic FS7 which is right around your budget.

both are pretty portable being only about .75 inch thick. The aforementioned Kodak is just about double that(1.4")

Thank you for bringing up the portability issue. I didn't factor that in very well. I was thinking budget, and trying to fit it with what she wanted. The Canon is a very nice camera. It even comes in green; her favorite color.

Sounds perfect then! Yes, having something as thin as that camera is great for people who like to take their camera with them wherever they go. They can simply slip it into a purse and their off. Glad to here we found a good one for her. Let us know how she likes it!
