I'm hoping another DIS shutterbug can help me out with my Kodak EasyShare CX6330....

I got this digital camera for Christmas, and it came with a pair of Kodak digital camera batteries. I believe the documentation that came with the camera mentioned something about how these were just...like..."temporary" batteries and would not have a long life. I finally got new rechargeable Ni-MH batteries from Kodak, along with a charger and expected to be able to get a good amount of use before the low battery warning came up.

Well, tonight I discovered I was wrong lol. I wanted to take some photos, but I hardly turned it on before I got the low battery warning. These should have been brand new batteries, fully charged, and I did not use the camera very much (less than an hour total use since I changed the batteries).

Anyone with Kodak experience have any advice or explanation? I checked out the Kodak thread on another board (Budget Board? I think so.) and skimmed through almost the entire thread, but didn't see anything similar to this problem.

Thanks in advance!! (And PLEASE hurry - lol - I need to start taking pics soon!! )

Did you charge the batteries at all before using them? Maybe that's the problem. They might have lost some of their charge. If you use the screen when taking pics it does drain the batteries much faster.

NiMH batteries will slowly lose their charge when not being used. A fully charged set of NiMH batteries will completely discharge after a few weeks of disuse.

Do you have a memory card in the camera? A coworker of mine had the same problem with his digital camera. I don't remember the make of camera or memory card, but having that card in his camera drained the batteries even when the camera was turned off.

Check the web for your memory card and camera site for more info.

Also, don't forget, brand-new rechargeable batteries only hold about 60-80% of their full capacity until drained & charged completely a few times!

WoW!!

Thanks guys!! I didn't even think for a second that my "new" batteries may not have been fully charged, but that certainly makes a lot of sense. I have them charging away as we speak!!

Thanks for your help...hopefully this will remedy the problem!!

(PS - I'm so impressed by the resourcefulness of the DIS!! Ya learn something new every day comin' around these parts!!) :D
