I've been to Knott's many times and I think it is an okay theme park (I'm not really into the super fast rides, but I would be game for a few roller coasters). We will be going to Disneyland Tues-Friday in September and the Beach and DTD that Monday. We will be staying the other times at my cousin's house in Alta Loma. I'm fine with just visiting family on Sat-Sun before DL, but if my DBF goes (he's on the fence on whether he can due to his *supposed* dislike of the Disney corporation :confused3 and whether he gets off the waitlist for grad school). :offtopic:

Here's my question: IF he DOES come, he doesn't want to spend a TON of time with my distant relatives and I told him we could go to a theme park on one of the weekend days. I get discount tickets through the company I work for. I originally thought Universal, but those tickets are $51 (although we would get two days, so we could always go a Sat AND a Sun though I don't think there's enough there to keep us that long), but my discount to Knott's is only $29.

Which one would you choose: two days at Universal for $51 or one day at Knott's for $29?

If you arrive at opening, and get on The Simpsons ride first, there's no reason you can't do USH in one day. Whether it's better to spend a day or two there rather than KBF, putting aside the cost, the decider might be how much you would value the Studio Tour. USH has only three rides - one barely qualifies as it's a simulation, while KBF has many more.

Honestly, I would not pay $51 for one or any number of visits to USH. In fact, the last two times I visited I paid nothing. To me, it's a "you've seen it once, you've seen it all" park. However, seeing it once can be fun!

I'd definitely go to Knott's. For me, USH is something to be seen once every 10 years or so. Except for the rides, the attractions don't change that often.

If you go to Knotts bring your patience. it's Teens gone wild.

but not as bad as Six Flags Magic Moutain, aka Tragic Mountain as we call it in LA

This may be a tad off on a tangent, but I want to put in a good word, no a GREAT word for the Disney Corporation. I used to be pretty down on Disney in the Eisner era. It seemed that they had lost their vision of who they were and had gone for the money and the power and nothing else.

As far as I can see, all of that has changed in a big way in recent years, partly due to the vision and determination of Roy Disney. I wrote an essay on this (the link is in my signature). I am now a confirmed 100% Disney fan. I will never forget the excellent treatment we received at WDW on my Princess' wish trip.

Another vote for Knott's. Theres alot more to see and fun for thrill seekers, and it waayy cheaper and has more stuff in it.

I have read that Magic Mountain has worked hard in recent years to increase security and discourage teen rowdiness. Does anyone know if Knott's is doing the same?

Yup, you can tell that Six Flags takes security seriously as you pass through the metal detectors and get patted down and searched.

Knotts is much smaller and so are the crowds, lots of teens on Saturdays but IMO they tend to be a less violent type of teens when compared to SIX FLAGS. On Sundays and weekdays it can be a ghost town, in more ways than one.

Look at it this way, when boys want to prove to their friends how tough and brave they are, they dont ask their parents to take them to Disneyland or Knotts.
