I have been planning to take my GF to knotts on our next So cal trip, that is where im from and have been many times, this would be her first. then after looking at thier website i found out they took out the Haunted Shack !! how could they do this?? it was a CLASSIC !??? that would be like the Magic Kingdom removing Mr toads ! oh wait.....

The Haunted Shack has been gone for a long time. I think there's a picnic area there now. I used to enjoy it, too.

Yeah, ever since the family sold the park, I think Knott's lost its touch. I really liked going on their dinosaur ride and when I went on it in 2004, I could tell that it was going towards its last run. Instead of the vehicles being seperate, they were linked together like a train w/ a person "watching over" everything and the ride even broke down in the middle. It made me so sad to see how that ride ended up bc it used to be a lot of fun. And I can't believe that they replaced the Haunted Shack w/ a really stupid ride. I don't even consider it a real ride bc it looks like it could be moved easily to another area and if I remember correctly, it only seats 4 ppl. I really miss the charm that Knott's used to have, especially w/ its Ghost Town western stuff. Even though it's there, I just doesn't feel the same as it once did.

that sucks that they changed so much. i havent been in probably 10 years. My grandfather retired from Knotts, he used to Build the stagecoaches for Knotts. I hope they havent messed with those too !

Wow, that's so cool. What a neat thing to be part of. I miss the old Knotts, too.

Yeah, I was sad too when I heard that they took out the hauted shack. That was one of my favorite things there. I also liked the berry ride (can't remember what it was called) where you saw scenes with bears baking pies and doing other berry things.

Someone posted awhile back that the haunted shack had been moved to the ghost town of Calico. Not sure if that's true or not since i've never made the trip out to there.

This is as close as you can get to riding Knott's Bear-y Tales now.

Thanks for posting that! I was pretty young when I went on it so I didn't remember very many of the details but I remembered liking it a lot. I did remember the pies and the frogs. The last time I was at Knott's (probably at least 10 years ago) they had the dinosaur ride in there. They still had some Bear-y ride scenes you could look at but it was a walk-thru display. And i actually didn't get to see it because there was a sign in front of it that said you had to be under 12 (or accompanying someone under 12) to go in it. Not sure why they would put that kind of restriction on it or if they were even enforcing it but it was strange.

I miss the old Knott's too. When I was young we had passes and went all the time. Then it changed. And its not the same park as it once was.
