Knott's has long been known for its food, namely its chicken dinners. In fact, Knott's started out as a place to have dinner, and the amusement park was secondary to that! (There's a great book out now called "Knott's Preserved"; I can't say enough good things about it! You can buy it at Knott's or on Amazon.)
Anyways...on to the food pr0n!
For me, no trip to Knott's is complete without a meal at Mrs. Knott's Chicken Restaurant. This time, I had the chicken pot pie meal, which was a steal at $13 for sides, soup, salad, chicken pie, and dessert. Here's the chicken soup and the salad. The soup was good; tasted homemade, with yummy noodles & lots of chicken. It was a little bland, but nothing that a couple of shakes of salt & pepper couldn't fix! The salad was a standard "mid-range restaurant side salad". It was fresh and good but nothing out of the ordinary (which is exctly why it was perfect to go with a cmfort food meal!) I had it with the blue cheese dressing, which tasted homemade, a definite plus.
Here's the main course. For a vegetable I chose the cabbage with bacon. It was good & not mushy. The other choice was stewed rhubarb, which is also good. As you can see, the chicken pot pie takes up an entire plate! Its flaky, buttery crust contained a filling of yummy chicken gravy, lots of chicken pieces, and lots of peas and carrots. The meal also came with a basket of Knott's famous biscuits, fresh out of the oven. On the table was a container of various Knott's jams and jellies, which I spread joyously over the biscuits.
Dessert was Knott's heavenly boysenberry sherbet. There really is no other icecream like it...I wish it were sold in grocery stores! You could also get boysenberry pie (also delicious), but I was in the mood for this icecream!
Here is the Christmas Snoopy cupcake that I got from the bakery! It's a little smooshed from its journey by bus from Knott's to my hotel, but still cute. Almost too cute to eat! And only $1.25, a steal! I always get a Snoopy cupcake when I go to Knott's, but I'd never had the Santa Snoopy version. Like always, it was fresh and yummy. (Maybe because they never stay in the bakery case long enough to get stale!)
Super cute Yule log cake from the bakery. I love how they took a traditional type of cake & kitsched it up with the plastic Santa, sleigh & reindeer! It was very reasonably priced, though I can't remember if it was $15 or $18...either way, it was about what you'd pay for a lesser quality holiday cake at the supermarket!
Bee-yoo-tee-ful Christmas cake, also from the bakery. It doesn't really show up in the picture, but the scalloped icing on the edges is airbrushed with light blue to make the cake look like it's made of snow! They also make birthday cakes, which are reasonably priced & very good!
If anyone else has any food pics/reviews from Knott's that you'd like to post, please share them here!
