Hi there, I see some familiar faces over here :) can I join you all in the land of Cricut E owners? Im quickly becoming addicted!

I had one that I bought on BF and wound up selling to go on a trip and regretted it ever since! Then last week I found a killer deal on an almost never used one with 4 carts and extra mats on craigslist for $175 so I couldnt pass that up right? So I am back to using it and loving it!

I think Im going to go for the SCAL, I have read a few back posts but they can be a little confusing. Would love to hear more opinions about it!
thanks so much I am learning a lot from you all allready!

Welcome Binny.

While I haven't ventured over to the world of SCAL, many of "us" here have and will be able to help with questions and stuff...

I may be going over to the dark side soon too (with the help of MM2000 and PBF):goodvibes

i so want SCAL!!!

MM2000 is soooooo going to give me lessons!
;)

Jennifer is going to be giving us our own tutorials. I'll provide the food (bbq chicken kebabs) - is that enough of a bribe?

What's the date on this? I should put it in my calendar. This time we need the frozen drinks though!

You know who is in charge of frozen drinks (he hasn't fixed the machine yet!). Oh Raaannn....

bbq chicken????

i'm in!

dates please??

I love SCAL. I've had it for about a year now. Last March, I showed it to friends at a crop weekend, and they all went home to buy it.

You have so many options, and if you want something and don't have it, you can generally find free files to download and cut (like I needed a trike for a layout with DS and his first bike, found a few options and downloaded what I liked).

Also, I like how easily I can make my titles fit the space I want - you can see it on your computer and stretch or shrink until it's the right size, and then cut. This is great if you want a title the perfect size to fit a layout.

Anyway, these are just a few things I love about it, but it was a great buy overall.

I have been thinking of SCAL a lot too. I never thought I would, but than the desktop computer died and he will be replaced by a laptop. I will definately need lessons, but I am looking forward to cutting things like the Star Wars font, logos for places we visit and Disney Park stuff.

It's a very easy program to learn. As I said in a post last week, you can use images from other companies - but that's copyright infringement and you didn't hear it from me ;) - but it can be done.

I love it, can't say enough good things about it!

binny--I see that you're in my area, maybe we could get together and learn about SCAL as a team. The DIS expert (or so I'm told) mm2000 lives far, far away. But, perhaps she could tutor us via private messages ;) I'm taking the SCAL plunge next week :)

I also have SCAL. :goodvibes

If you want to just use it for fonts, it is super easy, as long as you know how to install fonts on your computer. If you can manipulate your fonts in Word, you can do it in SCAL. Same type of thing, selecting them from a drop down menu.

If you want to make paper piecings, that is a little more complicated. I have never used the ones downloaded from the Mardenz blog, but that is an "in between" step. Harder than just using a font, but easier than making your own.

Thanks everyone :) I appreciate all the advice! Sounds like we could get quite the party together!
