Knitting lessons

I have been wanting to learn to knit and thought that summer would be the perfect time to learn. Have any of you ever taken lessons and if so where do you go? Do places like Michael's and Hobby Lobby have knitting lessons I know they have just about every other kind. I also thought about going to the senior center here in town and see if anyone there gave lessons. Any help would be appreciated.

I am learning to knit myself. I don't know if Michael's or Hobby Lobby offer classes or not. I just went out and bought some books and am pretty much teaching myself. However, I have stumbled upon some small specialty yarn stores in other cites that offer knitting classes. You might check your phone book to see if there are any in your area. Look in the yellow pages under "yarn". Also, if you know anyone that knits, they can be a great help.
