My dh had knee surgery this week and is non-weight bearing for 6 weeks. We leave in two!!!

So much to read and go thru on this subject! We are doing the Disney cruise first then going over to MK for two days.

I don't even know where to begin! Should I just get a scooter at MK each day? I am worried about the cruise aslo.

Any pointers will be great!

Hi and :welcome: to disABILITIES!

If you click on where it says "disABILTIES" at the top of this page it will take you to the Index. One of the top items is the "disABILTIES FAQ" which will gives lots of useful information. Post #2 discusses mobility and options, including listing locations where you can rent ECVs off-site.

Note that you may have to cancel some or all of your cruise excursions since most are not accessible.

Or, if you want an easier route to the FAQs, click on the link in my signature.

Just get an ECV for him. You probably would need 2. I would rent from a company that will deliver one to you at the port to use on the cruise (you may need to change to a accessible room if you are not in one now. Call the cruise line and let them know what is going on.). Then I would rent from another company who will deliver to the resort you are going to be at. You are going to need the ECV for other things than just the parks. Your husband will have a much better trip the less he has to use his crutches. Those things are not the most comfortable to use at all.

Maybe check with the companies that deliver to the resort and they might deliver to the port also. Then you just rent it for the length of the entire stay from one company. I don't know of any off the top of my head that does this, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

that is a great idea! I am going to try and figure this out. thanks for the replies!
