Knee surgeons

I recently injured my knee, turns out my PCL is completely torn. I had previously injured it, but now it seems to be completely gone. So my orthopedist thinks I should have surgery to repair it. Now, I'm not stupid, I'm not going to run to do a complicated surgery just because one person thinks I should. I know that PCL reconstructions are a rather rare procedure, with a very long recovery. The techniques and rehab for PCL reconstructions are not quite up to par with ACL reconstructions, simply because it's a much less injured ligament, so they do fewer surgeries.

I do want to get a second opinion, but I want it to be someone credible, who has experience with PCL injuries. The doc I saw seems to be very knowledgeable, but I almost got the impression he wanted to do the surgery because my guess is that he hasn't done too many of them, he's a young doctor, he just finished a sports medicine fellowship in 2007. I have nothing against young surgeons, I had a fairly young surgeon do my wrist surgery back in December. But with this one, it really does feel like he just wants to do the surgery because he likes to do surgery, not because it may necessarily be the best thing to do.

So does anyone know how to find a surgeon in the NY area that has experiences in PCL's? I figured it might be a long shot asking on here, I've tried googling, but didn't have much success. I live in NY, there's gotta be some good surgeons around. So if anyone might know of someone, I would really appreciate it. If you don't feel comfortable replying, you can always PM me. I'm willing to go in NYC (5 boroughs), NJ, Nassau County, possibly Connecticut. Any help would be really appreciated.

A very DF of mine had 2 knee surgeries locally by supposedly the best surgeons around us here in the Lehigh Valley. Well afterwords she was a total mess. The first one left her in pain and the second one messed her up even more. Finally she went to the NY Giants Orthopedic Surgeon from the Hospital for Special Surgery in NYC. Her Dr. is the guy that runs out of the field during games and he put her right, well as right *** she can ever be after the 2 botched jobs. Do a search for NY Giants surgeon and you'll find an article on ACL. I can't remember the Dr's name and my DF is out of town but I'll ask ASAP. If I had to have knee stuff done I would go to him, this is one of the beast hospitals in the entire world.
