I know there are many people who also need to wear a knee brace/support at the parks. Anybody have suggestions on how to make it more comfortable m especially when it is hot out?

I've had to wear a knee brace and as far as comfort, well it's not. If you are going to the parks and you need the brace to walk there really isn't anything you can do since you'll put i a lot of miles. If your knee is really bad you could rent a ECV or wheelchair.

I would suggest using a bit of spray antiperspirant around your knee which won't make is less hot, just less sweaty. Good luck!

Nope, it's horrible! 😞 But I had to wear a brace from knee down and then developed the dreadful Disney Creeping Krud Rash. 😫😓
But get the Body Glide anti chafing stick, stay very hydrated and watch sodium intake. That will all help a bit. 👍

Take breaks, sit down and remove it occasionally. It helped me. At the end of the day my knee was much better off. I did this in November when it was the higher temperatures. The first day I did not do this and it made it very difficult later in the day.

If you're talking the neoprene style brace, head over to Amazon and get the DonJoy DryTex brace. Neoprene doesn't breath at all. But the Drytex is supportive while letting it breathe. It'll still get sweaty, but not nearly as bad as neoprene. Plus, DonJoy is better at ligament stabilization.

Thanks for the suggestion. I checked it out, but it doesn’t give the correct kind of support.

KT Tape! I used to wear a knee brace all the time (3 surgeries on 1 knee). I started using KT Tape for my dancer who needed support but did not want a brace showing. Our next trip to WDW, I taped up my knee (very easy to follow videos; just google KT Tape full knee support) and stuck my brace in my husband's back pack just in case. The rest of the trip, the brace stayed in the room!

I can usually get thru a week long trip with 2 tape jobs: 1 at the beginning of the week and 1 half way thru. You can swim, shower, sleep etc with the tape on. Just remember to pat dry rather than rub. I do have to trim the ends each morning, but I have so much more freedom without suffocating my leg in a brace in the heat of Florida! I do recommend that when it comes to taking off the tape that you do it in the shower/tub.

Our last trip was barely a year after I had broken my ankle, so I had my right knee and left ankle taped, and I was fine overall!

When I went on a double-dip cruise on the Dream a couple of years ago, I brought KT tapes with, just in case because I didn’t have a brace that fit. Good thing I had it because I sprained my knee and chipped off some cartilage treading water during our first day at Castaway Cay. Took months to recover and got a knee brace out of it.
