As I was going some reading I saw one post that said this KLM code is "controversial." Can anyone tell me why? Thanks!!

People get nervous that it's not for them, that it's for international travelers. I get a little nervous because I cannot find it anywhere on the KLM/flying blue site anymore. When I very first joined KLM/FB it was right there, but now it's not.

However it has still worked on itineraries that, well, it works for. For me, so far, in the places I have checked, it has ONLY worked from MCO and nowhere else. It basically zeroes out the taxes and fees, which is the freaky, this is too good of a deal, nerve-wracking part.

But when I could find it on the site, it was out there in the open, for members of KLM/FB, and it still works.

Because, some people, despite having countless assurance from National Car Rental itself, "can't believe" they can actually get a somewhat O.K. discount, including LDW, etc.

So, countless people on this board have called National (and probably) KLM over the past six years or so and been told, yes it is all good.

Yet, as Sonny and Cher sang so long ago "The beef goes on ;)"

If, you don't feel comfortable, don't use it. Personally, IMHO, before all the "nervous nellies" called in about it countless times, I think it was actually a better discount than it is now. It worked all the time and for every rental. Now, not so much. Would not be surprised, since it comes up on here about four times per week, that it will eventually be killed...anyway, it works, National says it is good...

There are actually a couple of other codes that get me a better rate, but no way am I going to share them here....see the FlyerTalk Forums if you want to see a long discussion about that.

Anyway, for a really, truly, no controversy code, that sometimes is even better than the code you asked about, join the national emerald club. Their generic Emerald Club contract ID will sometimes (note I said sometimes) give rates much better than aforesaid code.

I used it in January with no problem. I tried to book it for early May and while it gave me a good rate it didn't accept any of the dollar off coupons. It took it off then added it back on

I have been able to successfully add an Entertainment Book coupon ($25 off) to my National rental using the KLM discount code.

Make sure you are booking at least a midsize for the coupons to work. The higher the price of the car, the more of the coupon it allows you to use. It is really weird.

I used it a couple of months ago at National. First time using it, no problem. But when I would go back and check if rates went down and plug in that KLM again, it wouldn't accept the KLM code.

I used it not long ago at LAX, with no issues.

Went back and edited my post to make sure I was saying that it was just the places I've tried to use it. :) I haven't tried LAX or many many other airports. I've mainly tried around Orlando, and can't get it to work through CCC, etc.

I got a pretty decent rate using the code just now, so yes it does seem "too good to be true." Here's hoping!
