We just got back for the 4 night Dec. 19th Wonder cruise. The temperatures were cool (60's and low 70's), so we didn't spend as much time doing the things we usually do (like being at the pool all morning until lunch time).
This gave my family the chance to try out something new. My DH and one of my DD's went to the Family Kite Making and we were surprised how nice the kites were! You really don't "make" the kite, you put it together, but then the kids can decorate them with markers. They took it with them to CC and flew it on the beach (you have to do it near the area where you rent boats). Since the water was too chilly for my one DD to swim (the other DD is more hearty and she did go out swimming that day), it made for a nice activity for her and her dad to do that morning.
BTW, we did the Kayak tour in the afternoon and had a wonderful time! The temperature got up to about 73 or 74 degrees that afternoon and we were very comfortable during the whole activity. I can see, however, that on really hot days it might take a lot out of someone since it is a 2 1/2 hour activity. ALSO, I was a bit surprised to learn after we landed on the beach area where they let you take a break and swim for awhile that there really were sharks in the area! We watched them swim around not far from shore! One woman said she saw 4 of them when we came into the beach area. I didn't notice them until we got out of the kayak and everyone was standing there and pointing.
I wasn't sure if my DDs would be brave enough to get back in the kayaks and paddle back to the main shore (which we HAD to do to get back to the ship). Fortunately, they didn't put up a fuss at all. I guess since all the adults were 'calm' about it (what else can you do---and to be honest, I know nothing about how dangerous these sharks might be, DH told me that not all sharks are dangerous, of course that may have been his way of getting ME back in the kayak to go back to the main shore---since I HAD to do that to get back to the shp). We also saw a stingray swim by us a we were kayak back to the main shore.
So be advised, it really IS a true nature excursion. You never know what you might see out there! But it was a lot of fun and nice to see a different part of the island.
