"can opener" is mysteriously absent from both the list of provided equipment and all the packing lists I've seen. Is it there, or isn't it? (1BR suite)

We have been to OKW and BWV and opened many a tuna cans. I have never looked at the list as I would presume that it comes with a can opener. Hope I don't have to bring an opener this trip.

There should be a can opener, the hand crank type. If you check in and you don't find one, call house keeping.

I just ckecked in the drawer here at the BWV and sure enough - it's there. Along with a cork screw!

We were at VWL in a one bedroom last week and yes there was a hand crank can opener that also open beer bottles (which is a plus:)). What was absent was a wine cork screw.

I have now included a small folding cork screw (like many waitstaff use) in my shaving kit. This gets packed in checked luggage. It includes a small knife (for cutting off the foil on a wine bottle), corkscrew (duh:) ), and bottle opener (for beer bottles, naturally). I don't leave home without it. I could manage for a week without having to open a can, but it would be very difficult to spend a week on vacation and not be able to pull a cork or lift a bottlecap to pour an adult beverage.

Actually, it occurs to me that many cans now come with lift off caps, the ones with a pull ring similar to a pop top but it removes the entire top of the can. No can opener needed. I know the canned tuna and some soups we buy are packaged this way.

The real problem comes with the studio. There is NO bottle opener there and the DVC "markets" sell many brands of "adult beverage" that require one. I have learned to pack one, although you can request one from Housekeeping. Unfortunately, the first time I learned this was after a long day at the parks well after midnight so I didn't bother that time, but I learned my lesson. :)

Now why didn't someone tell us the pans are in the bottom of the stove. Called up housekeeping for one and then found them two days later when I looked down to find out what that drawer was. We don't have a storage drawer in our stove at home. I bet the person delivering the pan walked down the hall scratching their head. Felt can of dumb.:p :p
