I am a professional chef and will be visiting WDW the first week of December with my family. My question is this: Does anyone have information as to whether or not you can get a behind the scenes look at "Disney Magic" where food service is concerned. It would really make my trip to get a peek at a few of the kitchens in my favorite park!

Thanks,
Howard

Welcome! While I know that they don't have any official kitchen tours, I am sure if you ask, they would be accomodating as long as it wasn't crazy busy. Good luck and have a magical trip!

Hello Howard!

I wish they had a tour like you described...I would definitely be interested. The only thing that I, personally, know of is the culinary tour at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. It is free and starts at 4 pm. It is not really "behind the scenes." They give you a short tour of the front of the house at Jiko and Boma and let you sample some foods. It was very interesting but not sure it is worth going to unless you are staying at the AKL.

Just an FYI...watch food network later this month...Giada DiLaurentis is doing her show "Behind The Bash" and on that particular episode she is featuring a big event at WDW. I believe it is on the last Wed. of this month.

My DD has food allergies. When we told them this at FF, they offered to let me come observe them in the kitchen. I said, it wasn't necessary, but that I would love to take a peek. They gave me a wonderful tour. It was a highlight of my trip.

Howard,
Welcome to the boards. My ds14 began serious cooking three years ago. While dining at Bistro de Paris I mentioned it in passing to our waiter. The chef appeared minutes later and invited my ds to tour the kitchen - not me just my son. He was gone a good 20 minutes while I sipped my wine and relaxed. When he returned he was beaming!!! We also always dine at FF at least twice - we have become friends with many of the staff over the years. They too have invited him in to the kitchen on several occasions. I think if you called in advance and spoke with a chef you would find them extremely flattered. I think Blue Zoo has an amazing menu maybe there??? Good luck and have a wonderful time.
