You know your kids better than anybody and clearly they aren't diabetic! My daughter would need something on her belly first. If she gets commercial chocolate milk at a restaurant (why is it so thick? I make it for her at home, only slightly chocolate-y) she can get sick and has. Lesson learned. Drinking lots of plain old water when eating large quantities of ice cream would definitely help as well as taking LactAid. Even if you aren't lactose intolerant...the load in the Kitchen Sink would challenge even the heartiest of tummies! Get moving afterward, best way to aid in digestion and hold off on the rides! Need I say more?
So, other than the above tips, I say, have at it. If you can imbibe at Disney on things you normally wouldn't with your kids, when? Apparently, it does have angel food cake and brownies it is as well to help soak up some of that! Serves at least 4
I totally agree with you! Personally, I would much rather have my own dessert, but I have read that you can get your own bowls instead of just digging in.
When we got it they automatically gave us four bowls, so we weren't all eating out of one trough...we were at the counter so it would have been hard to all eat out of the sink anyhow...we didn't finish (which is unlike us) but I think it was due to the burgers & fries we shared beforehand (which were delicious too!)
I think that sounds totally fun! However, I personally would feel ill if I had sugar for dinner after a full day at Disney. I'd need something "real" in my stomach, too.
I always have one ice cream meal during a trip but it's never been the Kitchen Sink of course. I think that if you have enough people that this would be a blast.
Im wondering if on our next trip we should try this during the first 4 nights when mom is there or wait until just me and DH.
The extra person would mean we can eat more of it, but my mom can't have much chocolate... so unless they can make it so that most of the chocolate stuff is to one side (the part I'll eat from lol) it may be best to do this just DH and I.
Mom having too much hot chocolate (4 or 5 cups during her night shift at work) caused her to have to be rushed to a hospital for heart palpitations a few years ago (due to caffine content). Although she can have small amounts I refuse to push it even the tiniest bit in an area where I don't know where the hospital is and I'm responsible for Mom (which is how Dad would see it... I got yelled at when Mom and I took my nieces on a paddle boat ride and my mom managed to fall in the water getting out, I only stopped watching her for a minute because the kids were out already and running up the beach so I was trying to watch them!!)
You'll be the hero!! I took the niece and nephews there several years ago and all we got for supper was the kitchen sink. We ate every drop. That's all they talked about all week while we were on vacation. I figured they had their whole life to eat healthy. On vacation, anything goes.
My kids and I have a few nights before my husband arrives and I'd like to make them easy, fun, and relaxed... I was thinking that it would be fun on our Epcot night to head over to Beaches and Cream and let the kids have the Kitchen Sink for dinner.
Ohh how fun! I don't have kids, but am a nanny for 2 - and agree with some of the others responses that say to do it for lunch. I know "my" girls would so need to run off all that sugar energy, lol!
For those who have had the Kitchen Sink...
Does it really only feed 4 adults? It seems so BIG to me!
I was wondering if our family of 5 could handle it (2 adults, DS13, DS10 & DS10)???

I don't think you would have a problem. We ate the whole thing with room to spare. Myself and 3 teenagers, and we also ordered sandwiches before dessert. There really isn't alot of ice cream in it, more of toppings and candies.
It also works great as an afternoon snack after a hot day at Animal Kingdom. We still talk about how big it was, and how the 4 of us almost finished it.
