Kitchen Countertops Remodeling

I am trying to sell my home and have been thinking of upgrading my kitchen counters to granite in order to up my chances of selling.

Before I start having contractors in to measure and give me quotes, could someone just tell me an approximate amount of money I can expect to shell out for this? I have an average size kitchen with island. I just don't know if it's going to be 1K or 10K... no idea what to expect. If it's closer to 10K, I think I'll pass since that will be coming off the price of the home...

I would probably try to sell the house without the upgrade unless you live in a area and your house is in a price range where it is expected. The only other reason I would upgrade is if current counters are damaged.
In my area Tier 1 granite (cheapest) is approx 40.00 a sq foot. Keep in mind you will probably need a new sink (undermount) and if you have a tile backsplash that could get damaged in removel of old counters.

plus it takes 3 weeks to fabricate and they have to measure with your counter off can you tell i have been looking at counters? lol

We take 2 weeks from template to install. If you are going to do 4" back splash you can have the tops templeted with the old counter on. You do need to remove the old splash.

What area of the country are you in. In the north east the granite is 3cm & 40SQ ft is about the cheapest you will find....if it is much cheaper think twice or about using the fabricator.

Down south 2 cm is popular & maybe cheaper.

We charge around 190 .00 for an undermount sink cut out & $50 for a drop in sink.

Island are also charged for the extra edge to polish.

Granite is cheaper than Corian...we fabricate that too.
