Think I might want one. I hurt my wrist so kneading dough , mixing sugar cookie dough is hard for me. The biggest bowl that I have seen is 6qt . Is that big enough for large batch of cookie dough ? Any tips or advice? What's the biggest bowl size ? Any good deals out there? What attachments are needed or recommended? Thanks in advance

I like the ones with the lift bowl better than the ones with the flip top. They are the bigger ones so they cost more. If you are keeping it on a counter with upper cabinets, the lift bowl one doesn't have to be pulled out to clear the cabinets.

Oh boy just realize there's a professions one, an artisan one , head tilt and bowl lift one. If you own one please tell me pros and cons. I won't be leaving it on the counter . I have a space got it in my pantry

Mine is a more basic model and about 10 year old. DH bought it for me for Christmas one year and I was not happy. It was NOT what I asked for and I thought it was way too expensive for a mixer. Well......I would not take ANYTHING for it. It is so worth the money. I do a lot of baking and I use it to make mashed potato on a regular basis. I don't have any of the extra attachments but if I overheard a conversation correctly, I am getting some for Christmas and I am very excited.

I have a 5 qt bowl and make double batches of cookies, bread, cakes etc and there is more then enough room in the bowl.
I also have the one that you lift the bowl and love it. I bought mine on QVC when they were having a special with 5 easy payments

If you plan on using it often, you should really think about leaving it on the counter. They are heavy and it is a pain to bring it out when you want to use it.

Oh boy mash potatoes ! What else can this baby do. ! Lol!

Ok if it does a lot more than bread and cookies then I might have the perfect spot on the counter.

Now tilted head or lift bowl?

I'm really loving the idea if getting one. I've been looking and dh said. What you want one now ? I think he's thinking it might be a perfect gift since I usually don't want or need anything . I better get all the info just incase he does get me one if not I might get it for myself for Xmas :)

Any other good deals out there?

I seen a 5 wt at Marshall's and i think it came with a few attachments for $249

I have the artisan one for over 5 years. Its very heavy and stays on the counter.

Pros - my wrist don't hurt, mixes almost everything like a dream, comes in different colors, tons of different attachments. Easy to clean.

cons - its heavy, anything thicker then cookie dough has to be turned over manually to mix will, some times the bottom of the bowl doesn't get mix to my liking.

I have two. (2 homes)

The white one is 25 years old. It has the lift bowl about 5 qt. I keep it in a cabinet as my kitchen is so tiny.

My newer one is the 6 qt lift bowl in a metallic grey. It is very, very heavy and I leave it out. It has a much more powerful motor.

For mixing very heavy cookies or dough I find my Cuisinart food processor does a much better job.

I have the 6 quart professional in metallic. Wanted one for a long time. Got it about 3 years ago on QVC. Cost about $300 (or a little more), it was a TSV (Todays Special Value). Offered easy pay and free shipping. QVC has many to choose from and deals often.

I have the 6 QT professional one. Love it! I received it as a gift a few Christmases ago and it's one of the best gifts I've gotten. It's a raise bowl one and the only attachment I have bought so far is a spatula type paddle so it scrapes the bowl as it mixes. I use mine for mashed potatoes and shredding chicken breast. I of course use it for cupcakes, cookies, cakes, and a few times for bread. The only cons have been the weight, they are heavy machines! I guess I also received a larger bowl with the machine as a gift and that is the bowl I use most often. The smaller bowl seems to have dry crumbs on the bottom when mixing ingredients for cookies and cakes.

I've had the mixer for about four years and it works just as good as it did day one.

I have the artisan. I love it! It is plenty big, although I wouldn't mind having the lift bowl! The best "secret" thing I use my kitchen aid for is shredding chicken. 3 minutes in the kitchen aid gives a perfect shred! Mine sits in a place if honor on the counter. I think if it was put away I would use it less, bc it is very heavy. I also have a kitchen aid hand mixer that I love.

The 6 quart professional model with the bowl lift has a 575 watt motor. Lesser models like the 5 quart tilt head model have 325 watt motors. All-around the 6 qt. mixer is a better machine and I would recommend this one. I got one for DD in Empire Red and she loves it. I also got the sausage maker, veg slicer and juicer attachments. I'd like to get the pasta attachment, maybe next year. The advertisement says it makes 13 dozen cookies in a single batch. Look for sale price on this item. The ones in stock at Kohl's, etc. are usually not the better models and you have few color choices. I got mine on the internet from Everything Kitchens. They had 15 colors, free shipping, and great service. This is on sale now for $359.99 and an additional $50 rebate.

I have a professional Kitchen Aid. It's 6 quart that lifts. It has the metal attachments. I think it's the 600. I love it. I make cakes for family and friends. I can easily double or triple my recipe to make 3 tier cakes. I also make homemade fondant and breads with the kneading attachment. Like I said I love it! The motor is plenty big and doesn't struggle when making a heavy dough.

I'm not sure which one we have, but I like it. It is in a cabinet, but it sits on a shelf that can be pulled out and raises up to counter height. There is a latch to keep it from falling back down. DH grandma had that built for her mixer when they lived here.

I use mine to mix meatballs. Its super fast and my hands don't have to get cold.

My dad has had his mixer for 25 years I think. It really will last you for a very long time. He's a big baker or was when he was a little younger. At first it seems like a lot of money for a mixer but he was burning out cheaper ones with all the baking he used to do so he finally bought one. I think its his favorite thing he ever bought himself.

Kohls recently had some VERY good deals on them. Its worth looking there especially because they often have 20-30% off coupons and kohls cash.
