Hi Guys

Just wanted to know what the main difference between ID and K as we have always stayed on ID but never Kissimmee.

I have heard the K has been done up and is alot better but is there alot to do in the evenings.

Thinking of staying at Holiday Inn Nikki Bird which is (i think) the closest hotel to WDW so are there loads of shops and resturants withing walking distance as we don't really want to have to keep getting the car in the evenings.

Any advice is appreciated.

Hi T

Kissimmee is similar in appearance (neon signs, etc) to I-Drive, but much more sprawling. The US192 is huge in length and breadth, so everything seems much more spread out than it does on I-Drive.

The Beautification project has spruced up the area - it looks much better, but I'm not sure how much you'd appreciate it if you hadn't seen it before. The road has been widened (extra lanes) so the traffic moves more freely.

Check out the Kissimmee-St Cloud visitors site at www.floridakiss.com.

Due to its sprawling nature, it's not as easy to walk between places as it is on I-Drive, although the Beautification project has added sidewalks in a lot of places. The Holiday Inn Nikki Bird is very conveniently situated for ease of access to WDW, but I'm not sure that it is close enough to walk to very many restaurants. From memory, it is virtually the last structure as you head east on the 192 towards the Disney entrance. It does have Angel's Diner onsite although we've never eaten there. Have a look at this this map of US192. Nikki Bird is at the bottom of this particular map. Use the links at the top and bottom to move along the whole of 192.

Look what I've found! This interactive map has 360 degree views of US192, so you can see exactly what it looks like. Click on a marker number, then a pop-up box will appear. Click on the 360 degree symbol and wait for the movie to load.

We've stayed at both but would never stay at K again - ID is so much better and in the evenings you can walk to the restaurants, crazy golf, shops etc AND it has the bonus of me being able to have a couple of beers with my meal!

Web sites are wicked Deb I love the 360 degree things, I have some idea of what the area looks like.

Still concerned though that in general people prefer IDrive and I know there is nothing worse than not having anything near you.

Any more tips would be greatly appreicated.

I have stayed in both Kissimee (Holiday Inn Maingate East) and I-Drive (Best Western Plaza).

The location of the Holiday Inn was really good as it was right next door to Olde Town (sort of fairground place with lots of surrounding tacky shops). We always found something to do and there was a classic car show held every weekend which was also worth seeing. There was plenty of places to eat within walking distance and obviously it was much closer to Disney which must be a bonus.

Having said this I still preffered I-Drive. There is probably a little more variety of places to go and just had more of a feel good factor.

Hope this helps

Donna
