We've stayed in homes in Windsor Palms and Emerald Island and really enjoyed them. Looked into some homes in Windsor Hills as well. If I am looking for those types of communities - gated, some amenities (although we rarely use them, opting to just use the house pool), and in that Formosa Gardens area, where else should I look into?

This is for a June 2015 trip.

Thanks.

If you don't care about community amenities try Indian Creek and Rolling Hills.

Paradise Palms is close in and the newest of the closer communities with amenities. We have always been able to get excellent rates there, but we get townhouses with a splash pool. They have a really fun community pool area but also have a ton of amenities that go unused, like the cinema that is like a morgue (I have never seen a single person watching a movie in there, and I do check just for fun), the game room that charges a dollar to play Frogger, etc. Seems most of the newer communities have a lot of amenities nobody really wants. I mean who goes to Orlando to sit and watch a movie at the resort theater? Most people pack their days completely full and crash at the end.

There is another community called Sunset Lakes that is very close in Formosa Gardens, I can't remember if its gated or has resort amenities. Also there is Oakwater which is just condos I think but its really close to Disney.

Paradise Palms which is a little further west is the only other one with the same type of community facilities. Indian Creek (not gated) has a couple of small play grounds and open field for sports, tennis courts but no club house or pool. Sunset Lakes (coded gate)has a community pool but I don't know if it's heated and a play area. Reunion Resort which is a little south of Windsor Hills has lots of community pools to choose from, a playground, 3 golf courses, tennis and lots of amenities including a water park area. Sometimes the water park is included in your rental and sometimes not, depends on what that owner has in place .
If you look on this map Windsor Hills is #1 (blue marker).Click on the other blue markers to the left and will show you other subdivisions in the area. Disney markers are pink. Reunion is south of WH. #21 & 22. Paradise Palms #107

There are many more Communities than those listed in above posts.

Hampton Lakes. Highlands Reserve, Westridge , Manors North Westridge

And many more all along Hwy 27 and only about 6 miles further away from Disney area.

Try " IPG Management Co " and see what Villas they have, ( on Behalf of the owners ) to rent out.
