Hi there

Has anyone stayed at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel W Vine Street, Kissimmee? What was it like. Is it far from restaurants, shops etc. Also what would you recommend for two adults (no children) to do in the kissimmee area.
Also can you recommend a hotel at Orlando Airport.
Thanks in advance
Ellie

PS It nice to see so many people helping each other with their queries:smooth:

Yes, but it's been rebranded as the Best Western Maingate East.
OK as long as you don't pay too much for it.

Hi Huw,
Do you know when they changed names. I have no intention of staying at the B W Maingate and the Four Points Sheraton was recommended by a friend. Plus the agency we booked it thru has not said anything about the name change

Hi Ellie,
It was notified to the travel industry in the form of a strong rumour quite some weeks ago, although formal notification still hasn't, it appears, reached everyone.
This now means BOTH Sheraton 4 Points in the area have now lost their Sheraton brand - this one and the 4 Points Lakeside, which is now La Quinta.
Can I assume you've already booked this? Are you going to have a cancellation fee?
If you let me know the type of property you're looking for - and the price range - I can point you in the right direction if you like
(there's nothing actually wrong with the BW, though depending on how much you've paid - you could get a much better deal).

If you need a hotel at the International Airport, look no further than the Hyatt on site. It has excellent facilities, very good service, nice, large rooms and it couldn't be more convenient location-wise! You also won't believe how quiet it is inside. A real discovery, IMHO.

Ellie, even if the four points has changed brand name, there's nothing wrong with La Quinta IMHO. The only downside of that area is that you'll have to drive to get to most restaurants as there are only a few in the area that are within walking distance (even then I wouldn't recommend crossing the 192 on foot  LOL ). If you enjoy going out to eat in the evenings ( and more importantly a couple of drinks with those meals) I would advise you to consider staying on I-Drive so you can avoid the temptation od driving after a couple of beers. There are some decent hotels along here and it is much easier to either walk or take the I-drive trolley bus to get to a huge number of restaurants.

Hotels near MCO the hotel at the airport is obviously very convenient, but if you're just looking for one night I would look at using http://www.hotwire.com and just book the best deal you can find in that area ( you might pick up the Hyatt anyway :) ) . You don't get to know the actual hotel until you confirm the booking but I've used this company when I'm not overly fussed about the particular hotel and I'm just looking for a cheap room for the night (or two). The usually get rooms at about 50% of the "rack rate".

Re Lake Cecile Suites/Grosvenor Resort Downtown

Can you give me any information on the above hotels.
Thanks again
Ellie

The Grosvenor is in a great location, you can walk to DTD in a couple of minutes or if you don't mind a short walk (10 minutes) to the better value (for restaurants) Crossroads area. Unusually, for WDW, there are actually proper "sidewalks" in this area (I'm careful not to say pavement as to us Brits that means the are on the side of the road we walk on, and to Americans it's usually taken to mean the actual road surface/tarmac where cars go)

Ellie,
The Grosvenor is looking VERY tired, it needs a big refurb - I was there in May.
Lake Cecile Suites are ok, but overpriced.
Let me know if you want other info.
Huw

Thanks again for your information. I have found what I think are great prices for the Grosvenor and Lake Cecile. Around $50 a night plus tax and resort tax. I can't decide between the two, which one would you pick. There is only the two of us going. We will have a car. We like to eat out in the evenings and have a few drinks but nothing wild. Well maybe the odd night.
Regrds and thanks again
Ellie

See my earlier post on the Grosvenor - you'd be better off with something like the Marriott Courtyard on Palm Parkway, or the Best Western Lake Buena Vista.
