DH's boss told him to go to Kissimee on a Saturday night for a car parade, fair. I'm not remotely interested in cars but DS11 is. Anyone done this? Would it be worth leaving the parks?

The car parade is at Old Town on the 192.

It is lively at weekends and they do have classic cars on parade in the evening and on show also. Midweek can be quiet and not really worth the visit.

People have mixed opinions on OT, some love it and others hate it. It's certainly different to anywhere else in Orlando and not really something you can describe easily. There are some very 'unique' little shops there and it does in a way have a fairground type of feel also.
We have had some good evenings there and I know John always likes to sit at one of the open outside bars and people watch - always gets talking to and meeting interesting people.
For some reason we hated it last time we went, I honestly can't recall why.

We went down once when we were there in '07, just had a walk around the place. I really enjoyed it, I think it has a good vibe about it. It's definitely got a 50's small-town feel to it, and if you'e lucky like we were, you might see an impromptu musical performance on the stage near the top of Main St.

I'm glad we're staying closer this year, as I definitely want to get down there for a night or two. One of them will definitely be on the Saturday so we can see the parade.

They have Friday and Saturday night shows http://www.old-town.com/CarShows.html

Looks like they have also added Wednesday now. Different themes each night

Also Bike night on a Thurday http://www.old-town.com/Events.html

We like to have a wander around on a quite night rather than when the shows are on but if we have a spare evening the car shows are good to see every now and then.
Thanks everyone. Any idea on how much a taxi would be? Is there a steak restaurant?
Thanks for the link, Wayne.

Old Town - you either love it or you hate it lol i love it and think it has such an atmosphere especially when the car shows are on - and i know nothing about cars! :lmao:

If you like weird novelty gift shops/50s and 60s era or just a decent night out then i would say go for it! :hippie:

This is one of those places that we always say we're going to visit and have never got around to it, just told DH we will definitely visit in May especially since we spend may a night at Logan's which is just across the road. mmmm

Again something we have always planned on doing but never got around to doing it. As far as I am aware there is a funfair at one end of the town so if you are not into cars or bikes some time here with the kids while the other half checks out the motors.

There is a branch of Bennigans on the other side of the 192 that we've walked to and from when visiting Old Town (there's a pedestrian crossing - or there was when we last went!) That branch survived the cull and was still operating last year. It's maybe a 5 minute walk.

I agree with all of this - apart from the last sentence. We usually go for a walk around. The shops are worth a look as different to rest of what you usually see and we sometimes have a drink sitting outside aswell. Oh and there used to be the shop that sells all the popcorn - yummy

Logans looks really nice. I too am being dragged to the Cruise night. The joy of having 2 DS and one big petrol head!
