Just read on Yahoo that Kirstie Alley is going to star in a reality series about fat actresses.

Is she feelin' OK?

I prefer "Pooh Sized" and I think it's kind of an offensive idea for a show, but that's just me.

I don't think it is going to actually have the word 'fat' in it.

I think that it might actually be a decent show. She is a great actress and a beautiful woman and I hope this shows everyone that you can be successful no matter what your size. I am so tired of "thin being in". I like to eat. I've noticed that the really skinny actresses are getting lots of flak! I hope this is a trend.

Good point. If it's used to accentuate the positives of not being a skeleton person, then it might be good.

Being called "Pooh-sized" is better than being called "fat"??

actually it was on "E" last night it will be called " Fat Actress"

I'm not watchin. Too painful. I'm fat.

Not watching either...and that "Thank you" commercial with the "You are having a Boy!...I'm not pregnant" is my life:( It just get worse every day. I just want to hall off and deck someone (but I don't) but thinking about it.

No offense, but Anna Nicole has cornered that market.

Not a good name of a reality series or good career path for Kirstie.
I thought the show she did after Cheers was pretty good, but it got yanked too early. She has a place in an ensemble type cast. DW watched one of her movies on cable tv (Look whos talking series), and DW loves her in those movies.

Yeah, but IMO, Anna Nicole was/is just a big slob...she sounded high half--no, MOST of the time.... Trim Spa Baby, yeah, right, she went to Dr. 90210.

At least Kirstie is pretty no matter how much weight she's gained and she can actually act!!

It's not a reality series. There is a script with a lot of improvisation involved--like that show on HBO (can't remember the name).

ROFL! I was thinking the same thing. It seems that some overweight folks seem to align themselves with Pooh. Personally I don't think it's cute. LOL!

Didn't mean that in a bad way guys. Just meant that "fat" is a really negative word, and being a DIS board, I was trying to keep things a little happier. Sorry if it was taken the wrong way.:D

Personnally I like to refer to myself as fluffy...not fat.

I love that, and if it's OK with you, I'm gonna borrow it for a while!

It's fine with me because I borrowed it from a good friend of mine!

ET was mentioning it was going to be similar to Curb Your Enthusiasm on HBO as far as format. It might be interesting - I will tune in for at least the first one. ::yes::

I love Kirstie Alley, I think she is one of the most talented TV actresses out there. She's got great comedic timing. I'm looking forward to seeing this show, and I think its great that she is who she is. I am so tired of seeing women on TV who lose half their body weight every time they shave their legs. I mean, c'mon, in world where Jennifer Anniston is told she needs to lose 20 pounds in order to get more roles, it can only be a good thing that Kirstie Alley is getting her own show.

I say rock on, Kirstie! Looking forward to watching her new show.

I've read through this thread with interest; good for Kirstie for making the most of who she is at this moment!

I have no problems at all with the word fat, but then I'm part of a crowd who has reclaimed the word fat and we don't look at it as a negative term; much, I suppose, as the gay community reclaimed the term gay and have made it somewhat mainstream and not really an insult any more. The only people I know who consider gay an insult are those who are homophobic.

My fat friends and I use the word fat regularly, and more as a term of affection than anything. (as in, "Hey, fat girl! How's it going?") I think by doing that, we've taken the sting out of term as an insult. I mean, it would mean as much to me to be called a fatty by a stranger as it would to be called, say, a brownie because I have brown hair.

I know that isn't easy--we're trained to believe fat is bad and ugly. It takes a long time to be able to embrace the word, and even longer to accept our fat bodies as something beautiful and not something to be despised.

Just thought I'd throw that in here. :)

Fat & Happy,
BK
