KIRO radio interview about VMK

listening to it now ... makes great points ... it fills my heart to hear that our voices are being heard!

Wonderful show; kudos to the radio station and hosts of the show who really seemed to understand our plight, and to Nick and Jon who put themselves out there to be heard. I wish it had been made clear, however, that we were NEVER told VMK was a promotion, and that the first that any of us (here since Day 1) every heard about it was when they were dropping the ax. Nick did make a great point in saying that in September the newsletter specifically said VMK was NOT closing. It's clear by the reaction of the hosts that if more people understood what a big deal it is, more pressure would be put on the folks at Disney to try to have the same compassion. Lets keep the thread going so everyone can hear it.

nice going guys from vmkaddict.com and savevmktoday.com! And not just because I was mentioned in it LOL

I thought they were very sympathetic :grouphug:
When they mentioned how sad it would be with us all dancing at the end ... I lost it and tears were falling. :sad1:

Yeah, I thought the hosts were very sympathetic. And that was a REALLY long interview for radio land!! Good job!

I have mentioned this before but I knew this was a promotion from the beginning (I played beta)

I read several places that it was a promotion for the 50th back in the day, then later they were "extending" the promotion, then, most recently, all the empty promises about "it's not ending, yada yada."

I am saying this because I keep hearing people say they didn't know it was a promotion and I believe them, but Disney did say it was at least a few times because I (and my other family member who plays and does not live in same house with me) read it more than once.

I think it's important to be accurate when contacting Disney - if we say, "you never told us it was a promotion" the reader of our letters might think, "well, we DID tell them and now they claims we didn't" and the result would be they would miss the point of the letters asking to continue VMK.

I also would like to know where the "250,000" players number came from? Was that only a comment from Host Lily? Does 250,000 include mules? Multiple players from the same household? Anyone know?

probably does include mules. They are active thats all that was ever claimed.

by the way I have some links sent to me just today from when the game started and NO mention of promotion, including the beta login page.

In the 2.5 years I've played VMK, I never heard that it was a promotion for DL's 50th until fairly recently. There weren't even any 50th items in the game until a few months after I started. If it was a promotion only for that reason, why wouldn't these items have shown up from the start?

Also, the 250,000 number is total active accounts. That would be all active characters. AS for the total number of active players, I don't think even Disney knows that number. I did see some information stating about 30,000 unique IP's that went to the home page in March.

But I don't think that would include those people that never even go to the homepage to log in. Not to mention the tons of families that play in the same house that may have the same IP address.

What a great radio interview - thanks so much for sharing! The hosts really seemed to care:thumbsup2
