Hey everyone!
I found a terrific book last night to put in our DD 11's goodie bag for our train ride to WDW in December! The name of the book is Kingdom Keepers Disney After Dark by Ridley Pearson. The suggested reading age is 10 and up. The story revolves around 5 middle school kids who are selected to become holographic tour guides for the parks. They audition, win the parts, and film in front of a green screen. After everything is said and done, strange things begin to happen. The kids are asked to help save the Magic Kingdom from grave danger. Led by the scheming witch, Maleficent, a mysterious group of characters called the Overtakers plot to destroy Disney World as we know it.
Are you hooked yet?!?! I sure was! I read the first three chapters while we were still in the store and had to stop myself from picking it back up when we got home! I don't want the book to look used when our DD sees it for the first time so I will wait until she has read it first, or we may have to share on the train!

Oh, another book next year! GREAT! We absolutely LOVE these books! I'm ordering the 3rd one for dd11 for Christmas. We have them set up in our hutch, we'll never get rid of them. My dd9 and dd6 will eventually enjoy them just as much. I even enjoyed them because it all took place at Disney, so it's definitely not just for kids. They're wonderful for anyone who's a disney lover

I first read about these books on the Dis last year. DS loved the books, but our local library only had the first two. DS bought the third book this summer and absolutely loved it. He will be thrilled to know another book is coming out next spring!

We were on the Wonder last month while he was doing his research. It was really interesting to hear how he does his research & is able to get clearance from Disney lawyers. If I remember correctly, the book in April is based in Studios & EPCOT. Your daughter will love being able to pick out the different places mentioned in the book. My husband & I walked around MK with new eyes pointing out off-beat things to each other. Our DD got so frustrated because she hasn't finished the 1st book yet - too many other books to read for school!

My pre teen was reading them and of course I had to then read all the books. They are perfect for the pre teen set and both boys and girls. For an adult it reads too fast and lack depth, but it is a quick disney fix and does put a great spin on what happens when the guests leave.

DS picked up the first book on our trip in 2008! He found it in the store at WL and read it on the way back home. He loves these books!

He is currently reading Kingdon Keepers III: Disney in Shadow (set in Epcot and HS).

Did any of you who have read all the books see the recent news story that they are having trouble with the Malificent Dragon animatronic they use at Disneyland for Fantasmic???? Do you think this is the work of the overtakers?

Hey, you are not far from us at all! We are going January 11-17, to bad we are not going to be there at the same time! We are hoping to escape the crazy weather we usually get around that time of the year here in SC. Just praying it doesn't follow us down to FL!

Let's hope you're going at one of the best times of the year for WDW travel! The last time we went to Florida after Christmas was in 2001, it snowed here and was in the 30-40's down there! We froze our hinnys off!

My DS9 is ravaging through this series right now, he loves it! It's the 1st book that he's read that he says has some scary parts for him (and he's a sci-fi mystery junkie). I think just because he can relate to it so much more than the stuff he typically reads. I'll have to read through them myself before our Jan trip. I think we'll have fun with a different perspective on some of the rides!
