Kingdom Keepers

Are they very scary? DD11 is really into Disney World, but doesn't go for anything scary.

DD8 and I are both reading it now. I am a couple chapters ahead of her. There are some relatively scary parts involving rides coming to life and the characters from those rides trying to catch the kids in the story.

We are heading to Disney World next week. Small world is "closed for refurbishment" and I wonder if DD might wonder a little about the book being real and not fiction once she sees that it's closed.

It will make me look at the Magic Kingdom a little different next week.

My ds (10) had read the first 2 and is on the last one now. He loves them, and always has great Disney questions while reading since he knows so much about the places they are talking about. :thumbsup2
They are also AR (advanced reader) books that they can test on at our school - in case anyone else needs to read AR books.

I have read all three books. I borrowed the first one from the Library earlier this year. When we went to WDW, I wanted to buy the series in Hardcover.
I could only find book 3 and it was the last hardcover at MouseGears.
I found book 2 on Amazon but still cannot find book 1 in hardback.

It is such a great series. I can't wait until my DD(6) is able to read it. She can scare kinda easy so I don't want her to read it yet. While I was reading the series, she kept asking "Where are the Kingdom Keepers now?" I would tell her which park they were in and she would ask about all the different attractions and if they had been there yet. It was very cute.

Can't wait for the 4th book!

My dd11 LOVES them, I am buying her Disney in Shadow for Christmas. She actually just asked me last night when she was going to get to buy it! I ended up reading those out loud, so me and all 3 of my girls could enjoy them. For the most part my 6 and 9 yr old enjoyed them too, sometimes it was over their heads and they'd trail off to play for a bit and then come back. The only thing I don't like is that they mention a few times things about being underground and seeing all of the costumes hanging or someone getting into a Mickey costume. Just like Santa, we do not speak of the characters not being "real" :rotfl: even though i'm sure my kids know. (Not about Santa, but Mickey, chip and dale etc.. Well, my 11 yr old i'm sure knows santa is not real either) we play all that stuff off for the fun of it. I know my little ones think when they meet the "face" characters they are REAL! I love it!

Can't wait to read the 3rd book. And then the 4th. The 4th will have to be an easter basket gift!

Hey everyone!
I found a terrific book last night to put in our DD 11's goodie bag for our train ride to WDW in December! The name of the book is Kingdom Keepers Disney After Dark by Ridley Pearson. The suggested reading age is 10 and up. The story revolves around 5 middle school kids who are selected to become holographic tour guides for the parks. They audition, win the parts, and film in front of a green screen. After everything is said and done, strange things begin to happen. The kids are asked to help save the Magic Kingdom from grave danger. Led by the scheming witch, Maleficent, a mysterious group of characters called the Overtakers plot to destroy Disney World as we know it.
Are you hooked yet?!?! I sure was! I read the first three chapters while we were still in the store and had to stop myself from picking it back up when we got home! I don't want the book to look used when our DD sees it for the first time so I will wait until she has read it first, or we may have to share on the train! :rotfl:

Happy reading everyone!:yay:

Ridley Pearson has a whole series of book. Also look into all the Peter Pan books he's written.

Thank you for posting this. It will make a great addition to my DD10's welcome basket and then I'll get to read it, too! :thumbsup2

I can't wait til they decide to make the movies. Surely it can't be too long, these are awesome books!!

Here is part of Ridley Pearson's Blog from www.ridleypearson.com dated Sept. 3rd 2010.

"So the cruise/research trip was AMAZING. I got to see stuff on the ship that you're NEVER allowed to see, and I hope to include it all in KK5. I take another cruise with Disney through the Panama canal in January (hint, hint) and even another right after that one, trying to get all my facts straight as the KKs embark onto the cruise line.

KK4 is in production. The illustrator is working on covers, and soon I'll have a copyedit of my manuscript to review (trying to get those pesky typos and misspellings out of it).

My summer was crazed -- I published In Harm's Way in my crime series -- I did my KK research, and I'm looking forward to outlining and starting KK5 in the next week or so (they take a LONG time to write!)"

Book #4 is called Kingdom Keepers - Descent Into Darkness.
Looks like Book 5 will be on the Disney Cruise Line.

Man, that's the kinda job I would love. Cruising for research!! :lmao:

Looking forward to KK4 AND 5!!!

I just started reading this series. I'm typically not that much of a YA fan, but I'm enjoying being in one of my favorite places on Earth while reading.
