Anyone familiar with these books?

KINGDOM KEEPERS 3: Disney in Shadow out in April 2010

Both me and my dd9 have read them. Can't wait for the new one. They're great, especially for a WDW fan, and totally age appropriate for a 10 year old.

My 11 year old niece loves them and I know adults who enjoy them also!

My 11 yr old dd read the first one and loved it. I had no idea there was a second, or a planned third one. I'm going to pick them both up for her.
Anyone care to share the titles :)

Hate to say this, but I thought the first one was unbelieveable junk. I am not planning on reading any of the others.

As for a 10 year old, he or she might like it if he or she has never been to Disney World. The author makes way too many mistakes to think he has ever been there. (And if he had before he wrote it, he should be ashamed.)

I totally thought this was a religious thing but I saw the kingdom keepers II in the park today!

Both of my sons read the Kingdom Keepers when they bought and read the book a few years ago. My oldest son bought it in 6th grade with his own money and really liked it. His teacher then read it and loved it, too. Then, my younger DS read it and loved it when he was the same age. So, I would definitely say yes!

My DS (13) has just corrected me that he has read both books and enjoyed them both. He wants the 3rd book as well. He gives the thumbs up as well!:thumbsup2

I have a problem with the name as well.
The author was really over-reached on the title.

But I want my son to read more, so if overall the book is OK for a 10 year old, I'll get them.

He wasn't far reaching if you think of the tour that Disney has called "Keys to the Kingdom". Kingdom Keepers are just those who are protecting the Kingdom and all of it's secrets, as in the Magic Kingdom.

I read both of the book and can't wait for the third one. I loved them and even my 65 year old Mom read them and liked them.

Another good series by Ridley Pierce is the "Peter and the Starcatchers". It is a series of Peter Pan.

Our son read the first one in about 6th grade and absolutely loved it. He has been to WDW over a dozen times and thought it was a great read. That says a lot because he does not really read for entertainment at all. When we gave him the second book for Christmas last year, he read the entire thing that day. Can't wait for the 3rd.

When is the 3rd one coming out? Nevermind, I see that in the first post!

I'm 16 and I read them over the summer. The way it was written was alright and the plot was a little everywhere but I love disney so I enjoyed them. I'll be buying the 3rd one when it comes out. :)

My son read both 1 and 2 when he was 11. He loved them both. I read them after and enjoyed them.

Looking forward to the 3rd!:thumbsup2

I actually enjoyed the books myself. Bought them for my 8-yr. old DD, who reads above her grade level and read through the 4th Harry Potter book at the age of 7. (She's stalled out on them now that they are waayyy longer)

Anyway, the science-y stuff (all about the DHI technology) was a bit much for her and she wasn't too interested. She shelved it quickly, which is when I took over and liked it so much I went an got the sequel. I'm looking forward to the third book myself. the books have a broad range of appeal, but I think only a true Disney fan would appreciate them, because the writing isn't phenomenal by any stretch.

Anyway, I think a 10-yr old boy is the perfect target audience for the series.

He actually worked closely with Disney and was allowed into many backstage areas. There is a great interview with Ridley on WDW Radio a few months back.

great point dpuck...he actually did massive amounts of research to write this series.

Amy4bruce...perhaps you would be willing to cite a few of these "mistakes" to prove your point ? Cause I'm not sure what you are referring to at all.
