i just looked up the old threads about this book and heard about the innacuracies, etc. but it seemed that everyone who read it was very familiar with disney. i found this book at our library yesterday and it seems like something my daughter would really enjoy.

my question is: would it be okay to read this book before going to disney? we have been planning our trip for months and she knows quite a bit about the parks and attractions, but she has not been there. (i am pretty familiar and could fill her in.) i thought it would be a fun way to keep the anticipation going, but should we wait until after our trip to read it?

it should be fine. there are descriptions of magic kingdom...but most of the book centers around the kids. great book by the way...you should read it too.

Most of the inaccuracies deal with areas that aren't normally accessible by guests, anyway. Let your DD read it before your trip. She'll get a kick out of being in the actual locations that she read about in the book. :)

thanks for the responses.

i thought it would be a little mother-daughter time to read it together. i have two toddlers now so we havent had the chance to read together since the 6th harry potter book. :goodvibes

I don't have kids and I had to have a copy of it. :goodvibes I thought it was a very fun read especailly for the WDW lover. I agree with the other posters that she will get a kick out of reading it and then going to the park and seeing some of the attractions featured in the book. :)

This would be an excellent book to read before going to the MK. Any inaccuracies in the book are small potatoes, IMHO. For me, I bought my copy of Kingdom Keepers at the Emporium the day before I flew home and I read it constantly from the time I left Orlando to the time I got back to Richmond. It is a very engaging and thrilling book.

Also, I believe that there is another Kingdom Keepers coming out this August.

I have a copy too and I don't have any children!!! :)

It's a great book! Enjoy! :)

I saw that too. I thought we would read this one before the trip and then I would get ther that one to read afterwards. Gotta keep the magic alive until the next trip. (My DH thinks this will be our one and only Disney vacation, but I know better...) ;)

Just got my copy yesterday ! My DD (8) wants to read it, but I said I would first to make sure it was ok?
Anyone have feedback as to what is written - does it ruin anything, is it scary for younger pre-teens?

I had the same thought that you did and insisted on reading it before my DD8. I think it's appropriate for an 8 year old. We're in the middle of it right now and she loves getting out the maps to see where they are in the 'world'. I hope you and your child enjoy it as much as we are;)

I would let them read, it was one of my favorite books and it is pretty accurate. I would just remind them that any of the ride accedents that were told about in the book never happend (like in thewinnie the pooh ride).:goodvibes

we read it together. it was pretty good.

of course my 4 year old came into the room during the "it's a small world" scene. i was worried she'd be scared when we ride, but she just said "obviously that's not really going to happen, mommy".

i think i'll buy the new one when it comes out as a reminder of our trip.

My DD read this approx. 2 years ago and she loved it (she was about 10 yrs. old). I just read through it a few months ago and thought it was very cute. I have since passed it on to my mom, who's going with us this trip, just to get her in the spirit and she's enjoying it as well. Three generations -- three thumbs up. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Forgot to mention my DD also loved The Mystery at Disney World by Carole Marsh.
