I remember reading a while back (could have been last christmas) about a book or book series about kids in the Magic Kingdom after closing time.:confused3:
I believe it was not a "Disney" book , just based on Disney world.
If anyone knows anything about it , please give me a shout. I think it was a chapter book for 8-12 year olds

Thanks for any help!!:lovestruc

They are called Kingdom Keepers by Riley Pearson I think. I read the first one and thought it was horrible. The concept was pretty good, but the writing was atrocious. I love teen lit but this one was hard to get through. I never read the second one. I think a third might be out now. Probably good for the 8-9 year old set but not much older.

Prior to passing them over to my dd8, I read them first. For an adult, it is kind of neat hearing about some of the back stage stuff. The story itself isn't really that believable (how the kids figure stuff out, how they get access, how they don't get caught, etc.), but if you can get over that, I found them entertaining.

For an adult, it is very fast reading. My dd hasn't started them yet, so I can't tell you her opinion.

Enjoy!

My 6 yr old DD just started the 1st one last night- it is OK- I also just read Peter and the Starcatchers by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson Disny publishing-- it is about Peter Pan- well how he becomes Peter Pan and meets Captain Hook, learns to fly, gets to Neverland... I really enjoyed it (for a kids book anyway) You may want to read it first - I think there are 3-4 in the series now but I think you'll like it.

I haven't read these, but just thought I would mention another book for pre-teens about Disneyland. It's a mystery called Disneyland Hostage by Eric Wilson. I loved it as a kid. It might be hard to find though, since it's a Canadian author.

My DS13 loved the Kingdom Keepers books. I've seen another thread on here a while back about them as well. I believe there may have been a book signing at the park recently (or coming up, not sure). But anyway, I see some folks say that did not care for it. My son loved it and my son who had it before him loved it as well. Their English teacher borrowed it between the two of them and enjoyed it as well. So, to each his/her own.

I've only read the first one so not sure if it applies to the other 2, but...In the first book, playing in the Virtual Magic Kingdom (online community) is a plot point. Not sure how that is worked through in the later books, since VMK has been gone for a bit now.

My son 10 loved these books. We are waiting for the third to come out in April. He had so much this past trip poiting out where things in the book happened. It was like we were on a Kingdom Keepers scavenger hunt. The books have a lot of park details in them. I liked them myself

As an adult I have read both the Kingdom Keeper series and the Peter and the Starcatchers series. I found them both to be great reading. If your child likes fantasy type reading then I think they will like either series.

In the Kingdom Keeper series I found it kind of fun that what was going on in the book could possibly be going on in Walt Disney World. It was just another angle on the "Disney Magic" to me.

I am 39 and a huge kingdom keepers fan, I am axiously awaiting the third of the series, it is an easy read, adventurous and fun to imagine as you are walking through the world!

I just read the first one over the summer and at times it was a bit slow, but overall I enjoyed it. DD1 just finished it and really enjoyed it. When i told her there was a second book and a third due next summer (I think that is what I read-it's been awhile;)). Her response with a smile..."The second book would make a great Christmas gift."
