Hi ALL! re: GE/NBC buying USO.
I know this should be posted on the Debate Board but after visiting the board and not seeing any discussion I thought some options from the Loyal USO Fans might want to express their feeling about The New NBC Universal.
NBC is owned by GE.
When I heard of the take over by NBC/GE I was surprised but then I rembered the movie "Barbarions at the Gates".
As a rule of business practice the aquiring company NBC/GE usually tries to suck cash out of the aquired Company USO
and leaves it alone to fend for its self, thus causing USO to increase prices of all park tixs, hotels rooms, souveneirs and etc.
thorefore I would like a discussion with fellow Disers USO Fans as to whether it would be wise to buy the USO Power Pass and take advantage of all Deals now on the USO Website.
My interest was promted by phones call to Loews, USO and visiting the USO website.
I could not in any instance get a reservation for 2005.
After talking to USO on the phone, they said that contracts were being negoiated and signings were soon, maybe not until the end of the month and should check back then.
My estimation is that any changes MIGHT occur after May 31 but more likely after June 30th which is the traditional End of the Finacial Year for alot of companies.
I am not aware of the Vivendy Co. finacial year so the Deal must have been made with GE close to closing their Finacinal Books for the year vs GE.
I welcome any opinions and comments and will move to the Debate if need be.

The purchase and signings are complete. Vivendi Universal is now NBC Universal. The Universal Resort is not undergoing any name changes. Other changes, maybe, but we'll see as things happen...

Yeah, I agree. I don't think we should worry about anything unless they happen. Let's just hope that pricing stays as competititve as it has been up till now.

Thanks for the heads up though!

Hi Highlander447!

What are your arrival dates roughly?
Also how long ago did you book?
The only Res they are taking as of today is the packages which includes the tixs.
Room only Res are not set up on the computer yet
Thanks!

NBC/GE are thinking that the parks could be used as a "marketing tool" because of the 25 million people that go through the resort each year. So don't be surprised if you see more NBC related material in the next few years. They didn't waste any time getting a new poster by the arch, it shows the new NBC Universal logo and it says "Imagine the possiblities" below it.:jester:

I'm hoping for some employee perks...DH is a longsuffering..errr longSTANDING, loyal GE employee. We of course are UO fanatics.

Hi!
I figured out I will have to wait till June for room only RES through Loews First for USO Resorts arriving 2005.
WOOOW!
I ordered my set of USO 5 Day Bonus Pass on 5/14 and found them in the US first class mail today 5/17! Plus one City Walk Pass along with each pass I ordered, an extra bonus!
Disney never got any written material to me in less than 5 days!
USO continues to impress me!
