I did the trial but really didn't use it. I've recently found how easy it is to borrow kindle books from my public library and haven't had much problem
Getting the books I wanted.

I did the trial and found that there was nothing I actually wanted to read available, and it was mostly hundreds and hundreds of self-pubbed books you had to dig through to find a good one.

If you have a kindle and search through the kindle store, you can see the books that are available via Kindle unlimited. Not many that I'm interested in reading, personally. The books, it seems, are the same as the free book you can get once a month with prime. (And I'm fairly certain it's the same as Prime in that you're borrowing it, you don't own it).

I second the library!!

Yes and I use it like crazy. I read fast (like I read Deathly Hallows in about 6 hours) and paying even $2/day for a new book means the $10/month for KU is very much worth it.

I've found some gems in there and even though there are a lot of stinkers, at least I haven't shelled out $6 for a single Kindle book I hate (which happened twice recently).

The big difference between borrowing a book via Prime vs. KU is that with KU I can borrow as much as I want for the month vs. only one book on Prime. You can "check out" up to 10 books at a time.

Our library is not in a convenient location for me, so the gas savings is a bonus, too.

We were talking about borrowing electronic books from the library. I just started doing this and it's convenient and in my budget:) I've got orphan train and one plus one: a Novel on my iPad now and read me before you on Sunday.

It is so easy to borrow free e-books from the library that I just use that instead. I usually have 10 books on waitlist (popular books) and in between I can always find something available to borrow that is available immediately.

I can only think of a handful of more popular books that weren't available from the library that I ended up purchasing. And one I ended up buying because I wanted to read it before I saw the movie (Divergent) and didn't want to wait for the book to become available off the wait list.

I haven't set foot in a regular library in 4 years. I don't see much value in Kindle Unlimited. I hardly ever use my free Prime borrow because I can never find anything good.

wow thanks guys. i am fortunate enough to work at a local high school that has a county library on site. so i go online and order books to pick up while i am at work. think i will ask the nice kid who works there to show me how to check out ebooks when school gets back in session. i would hate to sign up and forget to cancel it and it sounds like it is not all that good of a deal after all. thanks again:wave2:
