DH just got a smartphone and loves it so far. I still have a basic phone and have had no problems with it. DH is pushing me to get a smartphone but we would have to pay full price ($300ish) for it plus add $30 to our bill every month. I was kind of looking at the Kindle Fires. I haven't done a whole lot of research into them though. If you were to get the phone or the Kindle, which would you pick and why? Yes, I realize the Kindle doesn't make phone calls :) And I honestly think that I would be getting something partially so my 3 year old can play with it (supervised, with a case).

if you are wanting to read off it...then i would go kindle cause if i read for a long time on my iphone my eyes hate me...i have 20/20 vision so anyone with eye problems should just stay away from it for that use but i 2nd the love for the smart phone:love: but not for reading books on it

Honestly you really are comparing apples to oranges here. I personally have both because they each provide unique functions, all of which I use. With a smartphone you can check you email, websites, fb and such all on the go without the need for Wi-Fi. With the Fire you can do all that, but you need to have Wi-Fi available, but you can do certain things like read without the Wi-Fi. If you want something to primarly read and watch movies at home and on the go and surf the net at home then I would go with a Fire, but if you aren't looking really to read and watch movies, more just be able to access info while on the go then I would get a smartphone.
