When you purchase Amamzon prime are the books and movies free?

How does it work if i don't purchase prime?

I suggest you go to Amazon and read about Prime memberships:

You can stream some videos for free and borrow one eligible book a month. If you don't have Prime, you don't get these benefits, but you can pay for video streaming.

If you have Prime... You get 1 book from the Lending library a month. Lots to choose from, but you have to return it before you can check out the next. But it is limited to getting a new one each calendar month. Not sure if there is a way around getting more than 12 in a year.
(But many libraries offer books to checkout for the Kindle now... so don't overlook that)

As for Movies, TV shows, you have lots of choices, but my understand is they are streaming, so you need to be connected to wifi or 3G to get view these. Quality is good. No limit on how many you can view.


If you don't have Amazon Prime, you would need to use your Library option, or download lots of free books that are out there (mostly classics) or purchase books to download for the kindle. I would suggest getting her an Amazon gift card along with her kindle.

I don't know how others feel but I'm not sure I would purchase Prime for my child. I have a Prime membership and use it constantly. But, my Prime membership pays for it's self with all of the free 2 day shipping I use. I more than pay for my membership with just Christmas shopping alone.

I do have a Kindle and use it constantly however, the extra Kindle books and videos are just what I consider "perks". I probably would not buy a Prime membership for just those extras alone.
